Hello, i just purchased a 2007 used pontiac grand prix GT with 26000 miles.

My manual instructs me that at 25K miles, its time to service the supercharger.

I love my new car, and i want to give it the upmost care. So i have several questions.

What kind of servicing does a supercharger need?
What physically is involved, what specifically is serviced?
Can a regular mechanic handle this? (my mechanic is a volvo guy, but does a great job on GM cars)
Can a novice with detailed instructions and a service manual do this?
How much does this typically cost?

Thanks.

Welcome to AF and congratulations.

The GM service recommendation leaves alot to be desired on the Eaton M90 Gen 5 ('04 and up) and Gen 3 blowers ('97-'03). All they recommend is checking oil level and topping off.

Best thing to do is replace the old supercharger oil as soon as possible and you can do it DIY. At the snout there will be an inspection plug. You can use a turkey baster or syringe to remove the old stuff and put in new. Use GM supercharger oil only, PN:12345982. Two bottles. Don't get any on you and it will smell very rancid.

I used a Turkey syringe with some fish tank tubing connected. It works great and takes about 4 full syringe loads to empty it. Here is a picture of a S/C'd GP (not mine found it somewhere else) and where the green circle is the location of the screw to remove.

Jc Whitney sells a oil change pump that would do a good job. I use it to change oil and trans fluid. I had to modify the tubing on it some to be able to change the oil. To change the oil you put the tube down the dip stick tube. It was piece of cake to change the trans fluid in a Chevy z71.:grinyes:

I used an old sprayer from an empty spray bottle I had laying around. Unscrewed the sprayer from the bottle, stuck it in the fill hole, and sprayed the oil right into a oil pan until empty. Very easy.
