Suspension...

What is the difficulty factor on retro fitting a 2nd gen CRX rear suspension setup to a '85 CRX HF?
I have the '85, plan on using it for a race car, and wanna put the coilover/independant suspension on the rear.. I have a complete parts car, so I have everything I need, and it's already been swapped for the rear discs from a '90 'teg.

"it wasn't that hard" usually implies that it's been done.
it was done, has been done, and works fine... just pretty much had to make a custom mount for the camber arm, and remove the panhard bar and replace w/ the center mount from the 88-91.. hardest part was centering that mount.

not of the process, next time I go see the car (it's in my friend's garage until I get the 'teg motor for it) I'll take pics underneath.. it's pretty straightforward
I'm not sure how it would be for street driving, b/c I haven't taken it in for alignment yet.. but it's in there, tires look maybe a lil off, but it's on lowering coils too... so maybe that's why.

$20 and a six pack, honestly.. just had to pay for welding wire, and have my dad weld everything up... I mocked it all up myself. Had all the parts from a wrecked CRX HF already there, so everything went by pretty quickly... if you send me pics of the rear suspension of a 1g, and same for a 2g, I can show you the diffs, and where to put everything/what must be changed. I'll just make points on the pics and notes on the bottoms, and send them back to you. PM me if you want that.
Seriously, I think by the time the alignment is done, I'll have paid a lil over $200 for everything, but only b/c I have to have the car trailered to Sears to get it aligned, since it has no title, and will never be road legal.

Nah, I actually just sold the car, b/c I couldn't get a title for it, and I wanted to make it a street car, which wasn't able to be done.. so I sold it.. honestly, I completely forgot about this thread, but if you search google, you should be able to find pics of the mod, I'm sure others have done it, since the axle beam suspension just sucks ass.

Your just too lazy to find out what you can do with it. In a way I wish mine was Independent, but then again, I like the fact you can move the axle around. Plus I did just learn you can use the springs off of newer struts :)

When you did this swap did the shock mounts work out well at the top as I don't know what the 2G ones are like. Also are the swing arms the same length? Any problem with the oem rear sway bar mounting? JS
