I have never owned a Dodge Dakota but am looking at purchasing a used 4x4 4.7 l automatic transmission regular cab pickup.

It is not loaded: does have cruise but no power windows, locks, or mirrors.

Mileage is almost 93k which is a bit much for a 2003.

My intended use is light local hauling with occasional highway driving to work if the weather is bad. Annual miles would be about 5,000.

Any comments on how well the Dakota would do for my intended use?

Are there any particular trouble areas to watch for (such as engine or transmission)?

Thanks

Randy

well you have your self a real nice truck dakotas are nice trucks and the 4.7 is a good motor and you have plenty of power to pull alot of loads probly the most a medium sized camper but i would suggest trailer brakes they help so much stoping and saves the truck brakes. But just keep up on maintnace and everything and it will run another 100k milkes

03 Dakota 4WDs had upper ball joint problems. There was a recall, I would check to see that it was done.

Door lock problems, some stories of intake gaskets as well.
