I have 60k on my '02 CRV. I would like to do some of the maintenance work myself per the maintenance schedule. What is the best method for changing the brake fluid? I have a mityvac fluid vacuum pump that I have used on older vehicles to pump out the fluid via the bleeder screws. Is this an acceptable method on this vehicle with abs? What is the sequence on this vehicle right front, right rear, etc. It used to be the furthest wheel from the brake cylinder followed by the next closest etc. Not sure if this is still the method for todays cars. ABS system brake fluid is separate from the regular brake fluid in your reservoir that you are use to changing in all other cars of the past. So the answer to your question is just do as you are use to in the past. I always bleed the closest wheel from the reservoir and work my way out to the farthest and use about 1 quart of new fluid. I prefer using the Motive Brake pressure bleeder (about $50-60) tool that some places like Pelicanparts.com sells (make sure you order the Japanese adapter one). It's real easy to use and don't require another asssistant to pump the pedals or keep filling the reservoir.
