'89 Accord LX weird clicking sounddavehelix 10-06-2007, 11:26 AM I've had this vehicle for almost a year now. Three times, recently, I was driving and I heard a clicking noise that seemed to be coming from somewhere under the vent on the left side of the steering wheel. It doesn't seem to affect the car's porformance but I pull over and shut it off for a few minutes and start it back up and no more noise. The last time it happened I pulled over and turned the car off but leaving it at accessories so I could listen to some music while I was waiting and the noise kept going. So I turned it off completely and turned it back to accessories and I could hear a motor turning and the clicking noise started back up. Turned it off again and put it back to accessories and the same thing happened again. So I left it off for about five to ten minutes. I started it back up and no clicking noise. It hasn't done it for about a week now. Does anyone know what this could be? Thanks in advance. davehelix 10-29-2007, 05:03 PM does anybody know what this could be? jeffcoslacker 10-29-2007, 09:31 PM Sounds like a relay but no guess which or why... Pull the cover off and see if you see any relays...if there is several you should be able to tell which one by touching it and feeling it clicking... Does it go away if you change blower speeds? Sometimes the blower cage will get loose and click/chatter... davehelix 10-30-2007, 06:22 AM thanks. i'll look into changing the blower speed the next time it happens. russiankid 11-03-2007, 09:07 PM The clicking does not sound like a relay, as the relay would cause issues while driving. These generation Accords have electronically controlled vents, meaning that if you turn the defroster on from the vent setting a motor directs the air flow to the windshield. It is possible that one of the motors is either binding and or is slowly dieing. There is however a relay under the dash for the A/C. They do click pretty loud, which is normal. That could be your noise cause. Is your A/C off while this noise is happening? davehelix 11-04-2007, 09:36 AM yeah. the a/c is always off because we don't have it charged yet. russiankid 11-11-2007, 11:37 PM yeah. the a/c is always off because we don't have it charged yet.
