View Full Version : 96 disc brakes 96 disc brakes plumbertom1 10-01-2007, 04:06 PM I purchased it preowned at 60,000. In the last 100,000 miles I have replaced the front rotors twice and now they need to be replaced again. Seems to me a set of brakes should out last a set of tires. Any suggestions? HEMIDAZE 10-01-2007, 07:19 PM Question, why are you replacing them? plumbertom1 10-01-2007, 08:18 PM Pads are wearing into them and chewing them up. I don't seem to get very good pad life and being mostly deaf I don't hear the noise they make. By the time I can feel the grinding of the metal on metal the rotors are gone to far to resurface. Chris Stewart 10-02-2007, 02:21 AM Put some aftermarket wheels that have openings big enough to visually check them every once in a while. Pep Boys has a good display to check out different wheels. HEMIDAZE 10-02-2007, 05:06 AM 3 sets of brakes is not unusual in 100,000 miles. Sounds like your problem is catching it before it eats your rotors up. Have your brakes checked every couple of years or just go ahead and replace them every 25,000 or so. It will save your rotors. Chris Stewart 10-02-2007, 08:51 PM You can take up the habit of having the tires rotated twice a year and inspect the brake pads or have them inspected at that time.
