Has anyone made their car quieter riding?

When I drive in friends cars (not LeSabre), I notice they filter out the outside noise very good.

When I'm on the freeway, I hear wind and outside noises. The car (1997) is not a quiet riding car, it's very noisy ("very" is when it's windy). I went into a body shop and asked if it could be fixed. He checked my seals on the doors and told me my car was sealed very good.

This guy has been in the business a long time and knows his cars. He told me the LeSabre's are very nice cars, except the design made them noisy riding. The way GM designed the seals is not very good, even if it's sealed good.

I was wondering if anyone has done any mods to make the LeSabere's quieter riding down the highway?

May not be anything, since the design of the car might be whats the problem.

Thank you,
Chris.

I don't know about the 97 but my wife's 2000 is very quiet. On the other hand, my Lucerne (replacement for the LeSabre/Park Avenue) has lots of wind noise.

I saw a tv show once about road noise. They eliminated it by running a dollar bill around the closed door (after putting it between the door and rubber and closing said door) and putting rubber things under the weather striping where the bill moved too easily. They also found air leaks by running a smoke machine outside the car and looking where the smoke came through (it looked like a propane torch but smoke came out).

Do a google search for "road noise" or "air leak" or "eliminate air leak car" etc, but don't use the quotes in your search.

Our 97 it nice and quiet. It is the quietest car we have owned. On very windy days, you can hear some wind noise, but at 70 MPH conversations are very doable in a normal voice level.

take a 75mph ride in a 98 or newer Crown Vic or Grand Marquis and try to have a conversation. then get in your Lesabre and youll see how quiet your car really is!!!
