one of my hobbies is racing rc cars, both nitro and electric. my electric rc is an hpi sprint 2. When i heard that hpi was going to stop making the trans am WS6 body, i figured i would pic one up and clone your car Curtis  . Its painted outlaw black with tinted side and rear window(s) and i installed LED lights for the fog, parking, and brake lights. Future additions will be chrome vintage 5 spoke wheels (look like torque thrust II's) and duplicate colorado "440 GSI" rear plate. check it out.

well its electric so the elevation wouldn't affect its performance... I doubt it though.

EDIT: I bet it could do a scale 1/4 mile in 11 seconds though.

im guessing it hits about 30-35mph flat out. its 1/10 scale so if someone can tell me what a 1/4 mile is at that scale i'll time it.

the nitro on-road version can hit about 50mph or so and this body would fit those but i would have to cut vent holes in it and im not gonna do that.

EDIT: 1/4 mile in 1/10 scale should be 132ft

I had a traxxas tmaxx, with an engine upgrade the truck would go about 60mph. Thing was a b*tch to control though. Fun as hell in the dirt. Electric car should do a scale 1/4 in less than 11 seconds. Figure out what Curtis could do at sea level, that will give you a good benchmark to shoot for.

the car was about $250 and i got it from towerhobbies.com because my local hobby shop did not have one. then you need to buy a couple 7.2v battery packs and a fast charger (i had all this before hand). bodies range from $20-$40 but they come unpainted with a decal sheet, window masks, and a protective film on the outside. lexan paint is about $6 for a 3oz can and i used 4 of them. then if you want to use LED lights the kit is about $15. electrics are cheaper to run than nitro and you can race them on an indoor track or in an area where pissy neighbors are a problem  .

if you want a nitro one (i have a nitro stadium truck), theres a bit more up keep. You have to constantly tune them, theres alot more equipment to lug around, and the fuel is $27 a gallon. mine hits about 45-50mph and is insanely loud :grinyes: .

my friend up the street has a tmaxx 2.5. He keeps snapping axles though. me, him and another guy race our nitro trucks at the college i go to. my other friend runs a savage with dual engines that puts out about 6hp.

anyway, i'll lay out a course 132ft long, time the car, and someone can tell me how the time would compair to the real thing (since i suck at math).

You wouldn't have to convert the time at all... It should be right where it needs to be since the track and car are both at a 1/10th scale. It should be able to run the 132ft. at the same rate it takes a normal TA to run 1/4mi.

i was gonna make a 30th anniversary clone but black is so much better :grinyes: .

heres the car i have:
http://cgi.ebay.com/NEW-Electric-HPI-Sprint-2-RTR-w-Toureza-Body-HPI705_W0QQitemZ250032377501QQihZ015QQcategoryZ440 22QQrdZ1QQssPageNameZWD1VQQcmdZViewItem

and heres the trans am body:

then you paint/customize the body to your liking. masking everything off for the lights and for the window tint was the biggest paint in the ass.

I had painted a silverado body for my tmaxx, ended up using a water based paint and did it in the bathtub. Cleanup was easy, it all washed down and the body looked pretty good. Masking things was a pain, and I had cut out most of the windshield for air.

i have a silverado body i painted for my hpi mt2. u really have to use paint made for lexan because if you hit something the paint will flex with the body and it will not chip or flake off.

i measured out a 132ft on my street and from a dead stop the car covered it in 5 seconds at apx 26.4 mph. my street is slighly uphill so the actual time could have been a bit faster.

if anyone wants to buy a t-maxx i have one for sale..lol...there is no body on it, the only hobbyshop in my area went outta business so i have to either order everything online which i think is a pain, or go 50 miles to get what i need. the t-maxx has a 2.5 which will do 50 i think??
