Hi,

Lastnight our 1998 Windstar started experiencing some transmission problems. From a dead stop to first it makes a clunk should and in between 1st and 2nd it slips. After you get past first and second everything operates fine. Any help would be appreciated.

Fluid have been regurlary changed and is a the proper levels

Beyond makeing sure that it has fresh fluid (Mercon V), it is hard to make a guess.
Some have mentioned sticking Solenoids, but that would be best left to a competent mechanic to diagnose.
I don't know if the Transmission Range Sensor (TRS) could cause this problem or not.

Beyond these things, it would need a good diagnostic at a shop.
