WIP: Revell BMW 320i street - driftKP60 09-24-2007, 08:06 AM Hello, as I said before, I start making models again after a long time... This is the Revell BMW 320i schnitzer team STW '95 http://lh4.google.com/zervosst/RvemBfkTCrI/AAAAAAAAAFk/T1vTqWvIXZY/s800/P1012760.JPG but again I'm going for a street - drift version please be patient because I dont have much free time, plus I try to make more models at the same time feel free to check my other posts... I believe this is an old kit (never seen it before) I accidently found it at a toy shop (!) as you can see its box is in a very bad condition (while the inside is very good) these are the stuff in the box.. http://lh5.google.com/zervosst/RvemCvkTCsI/AAAAAAAAAFs/7UkRqg0kKNk/s800/P1012761.JPG and here they are out of the box ... http://lh6.google.com/zervosst/RvemD_kTCuI/AAAAAAAAAF8/B2VQmjX6LCk/s800/P1012766.JPG zak78 09-24-2007, 12:06 PM Don't forget the staggered, deep-dish wheels ;) KP60 09-24-2007, 05:17 PM well, the weels in this kit are not so nice, so I change them with the ones from the r33 kit.. here are the original: http://lh4.google.com/zervosst/RvemEfkTCvI/AAAAAAAAAGE/8ad2T7tEeUk/s800/P1012768.JPG here are the "new ones": http://lh3.google.com/zervosst/RvemFPkTCwI/AAAAAAAAAGM/GWSFzGSyy1Q/s800/P1012774.JPG here is a comparison: http://lh5.google.com/zervosst/RvemFvkTCxI/AAAAAAAAAGU/5YKJ7Pc1110/s800/P1012779.JPG here is the body: http://lh4.google.com/zervosst/RvemGfkTCyI/AAAAAAAAAGc/hp4b28bsBkw/s800/P1012784.JPG its pre painted and with decals, but I dont want them, so I'll scratch them out and sand the paint off the body, if you know what I mean this is another view of the body: http://lh3.google.com/zervosst/RvemHPkTCzI/AAAAAAAAAGk/Bb88Au3oCxQ/s800/P1012788.JPG I'm not putting air wing , so I will close these two holes and here is a view of the wheels test-fitted on the BMW: http://lh4.google.com/zervosst/RvemIfkTC1I/AAAAAAAAAG0/7ENKO1nysx0/s800/P1012793.JPG I think they are ok, what do you think?? 924_CarreraGTS 09-24-2007, 06:06 PM The wheels look pretty good. I think, rather than sanding off the paint (and risking damage to the body), you can use oven cleaner (let it soak for a week) and the paint should strip right off. However, I don't really know what kind of paint the pre-painted kits use, so this may not work. But it wouldn't hurt anything, and is worth trying before you sand. KP60 09-25-2007, 03:44 AM thanx for the advice, but I allready did it. ok there was no problem, and I like the result. I think painting will be easier now that its sanded. well here are the pictures.. scratching started: http://lh4.google.com/zervosst/RvemJfkTC2I/AAAAAAAAAG8/x7BYiL0iy6o/s800/P1012794.JPG more scratching and some sanding done: http://lh3.google.com/zervosst/RvemKPkTC3I/AAAAAAAAAHE/Yx_WbsmZqLo/s800/P1012796.JPG http://lh5.google.com/zervosst/RvemKvkTC4I/AAAAAAAAAHM/mpoGsSfyL8k/s800/P1012798.JPG no more decals! and i also removed the bumpers (they were glued on - bad condition - not good fitted - too much glue) : http://lh4.google.com/zervosst/RvemLfkTC5I/AAAAAAAAAHU/DKDjBt9A5iI/s800/P1012800.JPG test fitting the bumpers: http://lh3.google.com/zervosst/RvemNPkTC7I/AAAAAAAAAHk/_XuXu8X3kTo/s800/P1012804.JPG http://lh5.google.com/zervosst/RvemNvkTC8I/AAAAAAAAAHs/M4n7PTxXYgY/s800/P1012805.JPG removing the badges: http://lh4.google.com/zervosst/RvemOfkTC9I/AAAAAAAAAH0/ZiiKePxXpjQ/s800/P1012806.JPG http://lh6.google.com/zervosst/RvemO_kTC-I/AAAAAAAAAH8/SebURzLF7O4/s800/P1012807.JPG rear bumper glued on again, and closed the wing holes: http://lh5.google.com/zervosst/RvemRvkTDBI/AAAAAAAAAIU/_reKnzTVf9o/s800/P1012813.JPG (I put a piece of styrene to close these holes from under) http://lh5.google.com/zervosst/RvemPvkTC_I/AAAAAAAAAIE/7xQ04U5FkMc/s800/P1012808.JPG some work on the front bumper... http://lh3.google.com/zervosst/RvemTPkTDDI/AAAAAAAAAIk/lviWUUcJako/s800/P1012816.JPG and the body is ready! http://lh6.google.com/zervosst/RvemT_kTDEI/AAAAAAAAAIs/9kL5gik8aU4/s800/P1012821.JPG add some coments here...:) KP60 09-26-2007, 04:08 AM I had to cut a little amount of the brakes because my new wheels are smaller in diameter...:frown: http://lh4.google.com/zervosst/RvemSfkTDCI/AAAAAAAAAIc/J8nDb72tzOQ/s800/P1012814.JPG I put some "carpet" for the interior... (its toilet paper  ) http://lh6.google.com/zervosst/RvemU_kTDFI/AAAAAAAAAI0/SenM97TCI-o/s800/P1012823.JPG put a shift and a handbrake, I'm not sure about these speakers.. http://lh3.google.com/zervosst/RvemYPkTDII/AAAAAAAAAJM/cqeJy_DTDNM/s800/P1012826.JPG ATMDC 09-26-2007, 05:03 AM i dont think those speakers would look very good or realistic. are you going to paint the carpet? KP60 09-26-2007, 05:16 AM i dont think those speakers would look very good or realistic. hmm, unfortunately I have the same opinion... (they come from walkman speakers) hehe are you going to paint the carpet? yes offcourse my friend, what color you suggest??? haha imagine if I let it with the flowers.... KP60 09-27-2007, 03:55 AM firsr coat of colour: http://lh6.google.com/zervosst/RvjMYvkTDqI/AAAAAAAAAQs/EAslB5WuDlg/s800/P1014421.JPG (it is behind a glass) here it is together with my r33: http://lh3.google.com/zervosst/RvjMX_kTDpI/AAAAAAAAAQk/7TKmwmZMwKY/s800/P1014419.JPG KP60 10-01-2007, 04:43 AM second layer of tamiya spray http://lh4.google.com/zervosst/RvljH_kTE8I/AAAAAAAAAdE/atw43Hmr7Ao/s800/P1014432.JPG http://lh5.google.com/zervosst/RvljJPkTE9I/AAAAAAAAAdM/SDO74oYyCEo/s800/P1014433.JPG http://lh4.google.com/zervosst/RvljK_kTE-I/AAAAAAAAAdU/0MTKF6dIYTk/s800/P1014444.JPG what do you think? Fabio Quirino 11-24-2007, 07:40 AM Nice Job ! Canneth 11-24-2007, 10:20 AM looking nice.. love the colour.. did you prime the body before spraying on tamiya paint?? if you didn't prime the body, did the Tamiya paint react with the paint that was original on the body?? i suggest sanding will not bring all the original paint off the body.. white_R34 11-24-2007, 03:10 PM Hello there I have tryed to kep up with your builds I thought you finished this build any ways here's a hint to make you car realy look like a Drift car that the pros use add some markings you could have just left it the way it was an it would pass a a pro drift car an I see it now I think your going for a novist or non-pro look a truly street drifter. Like a sleeper in drag racing it looks stock but it will blow your doors off. cant wate to see the end. KP60 11-26-2007, 05:48 AM thank you guys!! no, its not done yet... (not much time) but I have done some progress - I'll post pivtures soon. No it's not primered, but I removed ALL the old paint... it was difficult.. - if I have a picture, I'll post it. KP60 11-28-2007, 03:34 PM well, here is some progress: two tone interior, with black center console http://lh3.google.com/zervosst/R029CaI4WYI/AAAAAAAAAic/e68rUmhBgT8/s800/P1014476.JPG seats from an old porsche 911 carera 2 cabrio (by Italeri) http://lh6.google.com/zervosst/R029EKI4WZI/AAAAAAAAAik/4rQcMzwsD2Y/s800/P1014478.JPG there are no seats at the back, so I painted it black semi-gloss http://lh5.google.com/zervosst/R029F6I4WaI/AAAAAAAAAis/X9Emgefy6rw/s800/P1014490.JPG I painted the under semi-gloss black and flat at some parts http://lh5.google.com/zervosst/R029H6I4WbI/AAAAAAAAAi0/sXlogSeKcK4/s800/P1014886.JPG seats fitted http://lh3.google.com/zervosst/R029JaI4WcI/AAAAAAAAAi8/xSaBNobJHkA/s800/P1014889.JPG black mat steering wheel http://lh3.google.com/zervosst/R029LaI4WdI/AAAAAAAAAjE/l2SngF5ds7k/s800/P1014890.JPG Canneth 11-28-2007, 08:24 PM To be very honest, the paper towel carpet is not working for me. Otherwise, everything is great so far and i love the idea of porsche seats in a BMW. zak78 11-29-2007, 02:15 AM To be very honest, the paper towel carpet is not working for me. Otherwise, everything is great so far and i love the idea of porsche seats in a BMW. I couldn't agree more :grinyes: KP60 11-29-2007, 04:46 AM thanx for the comments guys! is it that bad? (the toilet paper) what else can I use for this? fastdupree 12-02-2007, 07:58 PM Find you some old velvet hanging around or just put in some flocking. Here is my M3. http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee34/fastdupree/DSC01098.jpg KP60 12-03-2007, 05:26 AM is this a plastic kit ??? (if so, which one is it??) KP60 12-03-2007, 06:42 AM here is some progress weathering and custom exhaust http://lh3.google.com/zervosst/R029TaI4WhI/AAAAAAAAAjo/MkwnorOUomo/s800/P1014903.JPG another photo http://lh3.google.com/zervosst/R029VaI4WiI/AAAAAAAAAjw/WSj28y-GNmw/s800/P1014908.JPG I decided to go with only a few decals, and clear lights http://lh4.google.com/zervosst/R029WqI4WjI/AAAAAAAAAj4/cB_tP8VRuM4/s800/P1014916.JPG http://lh5.google.com/zervosst/R029X6I4WkI/AAAAAAAAAkA/V_s7WYeXCS8/s800/P1014917.JPG so, http://lh6.google.com/zervosst/R029ZKI4WlI/AAAAAAAAAkI/A-4Rj1HL9k8/s800/P1014918.JPG just a bit more weathering.. http://lh6.google.com/zervosst/R029bKI4WmI/AAAAAAAAAkQ/VYs15n3lbxI/s800/P1014920.JPG disk brakes fitted in wheels http://lh4.google.com/zervosst/R029cqI4WnI/AAAAAAAAAkY/MVHEUJNHbVo/s800/P1014925.JPG http://lh6.google.com/zervosst/R029eKI4WoI/AAAAAAAAAkg/oy6qxvSvZLc/s800/P1014927.JPG and here is how I'm going to glue the wheels on the body (because they couldn fit correctly) http://lh4.google.com/zervosst/R029gqI4WpI/AAAAAAAAAko/rM3qNgrLczU/s800/P1014931.JPG zak78 12-03-2007, 01:14 PM If I were you I'd use flocking for the interior. The toilet paper looks better than I thought it would though. You did a good job of getting it to conform to the shapes of the interior. fastdupree 12-03-2007, 01:25 PM My kit is a 1/24 scale Dragon BMW M3 race car kit I made into a street version. It is a plastic kit. KP60 12-10-2007, 04:50 AM almost finished!! only thing left, is to paint the mirrors... but I think I like them this way (white) what do you think ??? http://lh4.google.com/zervosst/R029hqI4WqI/AAAAAAAAAkw/Iky-U3tppSg/s800/P1014932.JPG http://lh5.google.com/zervosst/R029i6I4WrI/AAAAAAAAAk4/az66aSTxy7E/s800/P1014941.JPG http://lh6.google.com/zervosst/R029kKI4WsI/AAAAAAAAAlA/T_pMoKMG-IY/s800/P1014949.JPG http://lh3.google.com/zervosst/R029laI4WtI/AAAAAAAAAlI/owh1JA_8LKM/s800/P1014951.JPG http://lh3.google.com/zervosst/R029AaI4WXI/AAAAAAAAAiU/TW0c_rUcT1A/s800/P1014959.JPG I will post some better pics.. please make some comments ! KP60 12-14-2007, 04:39 AM nothing?? no coment?? anyone??? :frown: well, I thing I'll put some more decals, I'll attach the wiper (I forgot it) I'll paint the mirrors black matt, and of course it needs some "panel lines" and then I'll take some outdoor pictures! stainlesssteel 12-15-2007, 02:10 PM well...what can i say? looks nice! but please paint the grille black and the part that surrounds it silver, it will look more real...just my :2cents: zak78 12-16-2007, 12:29 AM Yes, it looks very good so far, but it doesn't look finished. Black window trim will help, as all e36 have it. You should probably paint the bumper pads black as well. Finally, you should do something about the taillights. Try painting the bottom 2/3 red, and leaving the top 1/3 clear, like this: http://www.bavauto.com/fland.asp?part=E36%204TCLR&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=googlebase&utm_source=E36%204TCLR Edit: I would also mask and paint the door handles black. KP60 12-17-2007, 06:29 AM :banghead: how didn't I see the grill??? thanks! the window trims are allready painted black matt (I just haven't post them yet..) as for the bumper pads, I'll let them - I like it better this way.. and about the tail lights, I was going for something more like these: http://lh3.google.com/zervosst/R2Zc2sDiTzI/AAAAAAAAAoc/giN-__EeMWE/s400/300m-tails.jpghttp://lh4.google.com/zervosst/R2Zc18DiTyI/AAAAAAAAAoU/mBCDyhB4q9w/s288/026464.jpghttp://lh3.google.com/zervosst/R2Zc1sDiTxI/AAAAAAAAAoM/4wPrvN6Vi7w/s288/bw203.jpg thanks again for the comments !!! KP60 12-29-2007, 01:16 PM here is some more progress... http://lh5.google.com/zervosst/R3aMoMDiT2I/AAAAAAAAAqs/EMbR7cARHwU/s800/P1015264.JPG http://lh6.google.com/zervosst/R3aMpcDiT3I/AAAAAAAAAq0/kfn17lytJqw/s800/P1015266.JPG http://lh5.google.com/zervosst/R3aMqMDiT4I/AAAAAAAAAq8/NCFtMadYE0o/s800/P1015286.JPG http://lh3.google.com/zervosst/R3aMrsDiT6I/AAAAAAAAArM/zbfNRWVIdNU/s800/P1015294.JPG M-Tuning 12-29-2007, 01:24 PM Nice, looks very cool. But I think you should do something headlights and taillights they don't like realistic. white_R34 12-29-2007, 01:46 PM She's a sweet one!!!!! zak78 12-29-2007, 04:18 PM Looks great! stouring2005 01-03-2008, 10:40 AM Hi, Would you like to sell all the parts & decals that did not use from this model? Thanks:tongue: Mister_S13_2 01-03-2008, 09:46 PM looking great as always Kp60 :evillol: the R33 wheels look right at home on the BMW. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
