Here's the first couple of pic of the next project.
This pic shows just the engine parts !!. More parts here then in my last 2 kits !!!..lol Have spent just on 2 days to get this far. Most of the parts are carring alot of extra "flash" from the molding, so ive spent many a long hour sanding off seem lines and filling with putty to get just this far. The fan alone took just over an hour to sand and get right. This is one reason i like building a Tamiya kit !!!
Trouble is i get to fussy when i build these kits....it has to be just perfect or i get pissed off with it.
http://files.automotiveforums.com/uploads/895636Engine.jpg

This shows the underneath parts. This is about half finished. Just getting the diff sitting in and lined up. More sanding etc....lol. Quite heavy in the molding lines, but getting there slowly.
http://files.automotiveforums.com/uploads/657492Chassie.jpg

Last pic shows the finished seats and dash. The seat and dash are both molded in two bits and dont line up at all when glued together. Both parts have had putty added to gaps etc and sanded back out smooth.

I'm enjoying the challenge of a revell kit again. The quality is not as good as a Tamiya etc, but theres no doubting there detail. With a bit of time like im spending it SHOULD(hopefully) turn out just as good.
Updates will follow as painting and the build takes place.
Have yet to make up my mine as to how i'll build it. Probably just build it stock or lower it a bit with aftermarket wheels.
Not really the kit that IMO that will suit a real slammed look...but we well see what happens

The quality is nothing like the ones made in japan huh? Does your cab and bed line up nicely? Mines was a little twisted. Just figure I let you know about it ahead of time. Can't wait to see the progress on this one. And yes lower it with big rims. ;)

Totally hear you on the excessive flashing... On an old corvette gasser I had sitting around, the stuff could be pulled off in 1-2" flakes. The excess was found on almost every single part on every tree, too! I didn't have enough patience for that--it would have probably taken weeks alone to get that crap off. Methinks it will become a donor kit for various other projects running around in my head :\

Good luck on the truck!

Looking good Pman, good that it at least has a supercharger, if a small one at that. I think you are the ones who get Revells bad ones, all of mine are better in mold lines etc etc to the couple of fujimis I'm making now. Even an Aoshima has more mold lines on it then my Revell Lowrider had on it. DON'T SLAM IT PMAN! Beef her up and put some fat tires in there!

Here's todays effort.
Have got a the running gear sanded, cleaned etc.....now awaiting painting. Added parts like the cross members, along with all the front and rear end which is glued and completed. The front end has taken 3-4 hours of test fitting/removing mold lines etc to get it just right....detail looking quite good. The springs are 2 piece and needed to be filed so that the spring coils lined up correctly.
I've assembled it already as all the parts need such a good sand etc its easier to remove the parts from the trees and assemble them on to the chassis as they are all painted black. It will get 3-4 light coats of black so that it is covering everything before 1-2 heavy coats. Any smaller bits will be touched up with brush.
The detail is really very very good and parts are going together well so far

Slowly getting through the rest of the parts.....the fuel tank/exhaust/firewall etc etc are getting sanded

Been a bit slow with the building due to other things !
Got a fair bit of the rest of the kit painted and have finished building the engine which has good detail and turned out really well. The chassis is all painted and hopefully tomorrow the completed engine and other running gear will be assembled and fitted and a few more pics added.

Hey P-Man,

Good to see some progress ;)
That engine looks very cleanly build. Maybe some drybrushing here and there on the black parts and a tip of smoke on the brighter areas? But I guess you won't be able to see anything from that once finished?
Then I wouldn't care either. :D

Yeah I've been supprized so far on how will things have gone. The body has a few things to sort out which is taking up alot more time then i like.
The side skirts and rear bumper are a shocking fit. The bumper is wider then the deck :( , so alot of sanding etc is being carried out to get it to fit correctly.

Another update.:)
Spent the last few days getting this bitch of a thing looking just right. The bottom skirts around the tray are a shocking fit and seemed to take for ever to get just right. Most of them have been sanded and then filled with putty to hide the gaps etc.

The next problem was getting it all to sit on the chassis correctly which once again took forever to get it right.
Its still not 100% but its looking a hell of alot better then what it did !!!. The mold lines are very heavy on the cab and needed alot of sanding which rubbed away the panel lines which i had to re-do again. Overall pretty happy so far....it will be primed some time this week and painted in Tamiya bright red or black

Yep...it will get the stock wheels and height. There is so much work in getting it lowered with bigger wheels. The deck would need to be cut to allow wider wheels just to start. The chassis already is pretty low and when i put some other wheels on it the fuel cell sat on the ground with the height i was looking for..lol

I can`t believe this! I always use atleast an entire can of Tamiya paints on one model, sometimes 2 or 3 (like on my friggin 360 model  ). On the Corvette I`m doing, I am going on can number 5, but it is a 1/12 scale car, and I want it thick enough to wetsand and rub out.

Update
Got more of it detailed over the last few days. This kit seems to be taking me forever due to getting to darn fussy with it. :(

After the first lot of pics i wasn't happy with the finish in places, so it was sanded and primed again before being repainted.
Once it was resprayed it was baked to harden the paint.

Next was the masking of all the bumpers, side steps and tray. Once they were masked and sprayed in black it was then left before finishing of with my Gundammarker pen to get all the lines etc looking good.

I'm now more then happy with the way its turning out. The grill is all done and bare-metal-foil has been added for the backing of the lights.
Still alot more detail to go yet to finish off, but heres a few more pics of progress.
Hopefully be finished in the next few weeks all going well.

Its just the angle of the camera....they are both the same size.
The wheels do look small but they are the same size as some aftermarket 18's you can buy....its mainly due to having such a huge truck sitting on top that's hard to get used to (well it is for me anyway !!!)

LOL, the truck is so big it makes the engine look tiny! :o

Great work, Kiwi-bot! :D Oh yeah, you too, Warren... :p

Looks great Pman, is the F150 a 1/24? It should only take you about 4 days really to finish, it doesn't look like there is that much detail left on it to do.

Hello,

I'm new on this board but when i saw this F150 i make my registration on this board !! Congrats for this awesome job on this SVT F150.

More about me : I'm a 1/18 collector (about 90 models now) and since some weeks i have bought some kits, 1/8 CAMARO IROC Z 1985 from Monogram, 1/16 Revell Camaro IROC Z 1987 and finally 1/20 Lindberg GMC Syclone.

I have never make kit hope when i have the time i'll make them ! i think i'll start by the Syclone because if i 'destroy' it it's less imporant than IROC Z kit ! yes i'm French and i love IROC Z ! :-)))

Thanks for reading,

Tof;)

Mix with flour, add water, mix well, add salt and sugar, pre-heat the oven, bake for 34 minutes. There,. You get yourself a nice baked paint! :p :silly:

Isn't the Paint Baking function one of the new features of the 2003 KiwiBot?

The way I bake on a finish is I put it in the oven.NO,I'm serious. My oven has a 40watt bulb so I just turn it on(the light, not the oven)and put the body(after painting)in it for a few hours.Keep a good eye on it to make sure it doesn't get too hot. This tecnique will help it dry alot faster and also make it harder.I have painted cars with testors paint in the morning and by nightfall I was installing the "glass" and other parts.

We have a small oven bake machine at work that we use to dry out electronic cards from our locomotives......i have no idea on the heat but its perfect for drying the paint on my models. It has a small fan which blows the hot air around. The model has to be well dryed before going in due to the fan which would only blow dust over a wet model
I leave them in for around 4 hours.

I use an old food dehydrator to bake paint. It works great. Picked up to from Big Lots (store where things that no one wants to buy get sent). It doesn't have a fan, but it serves the purpose none the less. Dries the paint A LOT faster.

Get this: I cannot find ANY food dehydrator here. Full stop! I want to, but when I ask the ppl at the shop they just look at me with blank expressions ... argh!

at the shop?? I got mine at a store in the appliance section, not at a hobby shop. Mine only costed me about $10, but has saved me hours of time.
