Need coolant capacity of 01 Sonoma 4 cyleffenfish 09-22-2007, 01:28 PM Trying to help my In-laws out by doing a drain, flush, and fill on their truck. They can't find the owne's manual, and I need to know how much 100% Dexcool to put back in to make 50% dilution with distilled water. For example, if the capacity was 10 quarts, I'd refill with 5 quarts dexcool and make up the rest of the volume with water. laxman21 09-22-2007, 05:11 PM Trying to help my In-laws out by doing a drain, flush, and fill on their truck. I even found the Sonoma page, but those links are broken too. http://www.analogstereo.com/gmc_sonoma_owners_manual.htm Still request coolant capacity. ericn1300 09-22-2007, 07:30 PM owners manual can be found here: http://www.extendedgmwarranty.com/owners-manual/gmc/2001-GMC-Sonoma.pdf The capacity of the 4 cyl is 9.9 quarts. One gallon of Dexcool is 4 quarts. just pour the whole thing in and refill the container with water and pour it in too. That would be 8.0 quarts. close enough since you probably cant drain the system completly, top off with water if you need to. You will have to start the engine and warm it up enough for the thermostat to open up before you will be able to get it all in. Also be sure to change the radiator cap now, only about $5 and well worth it. effenfish 09-22-2007, 07:46 PM Thanks ericn1300! Drove it and burped it already, now there is room for the rest of the gallon. I have an extra quart from working on my LeSabre, so I'll be able to hit the 50/50 mark. I have seen throughout this forum that they recommend replacing the radiator cap. I guess I'll have to start paying attention to that too. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
