2000 Accord knocking on suspension after lowered.StealthSonic 09-19-2007, 08:44 PM So I just lowered my car last month with Eibach Pro. I got it from craigslist with OEM struts and shocks, ready to install. During the test drive: I could hear few knocking sounds from the rear. I reinstalled the shocks again (thought I did it wrong.) That didn't do anything. Still can hear knocking sound when I drive in local rough roads. Now I could also hear clunging sounds when the road is really bad. Sounded like my whole sway bar were being pulled down. But nothing was lose or anything out of order. The funny thing is that when I drive on freeway or make any turns, no knocking sounds or clunging sound once so ever. I kept on retighten all the bolts in the rear suspension every 2 weeks and that didn't fix a thing. Any suggestion? Could I install the shocks wrong? I tried putting back the original shocks that was working fine on my car and I can hear the knocking sound... First time when I installed the shocks, I only had one wheel up at a time, that was hard, the sway bar kept forcing the knockles downward. Second time I had both wheels up, that was much easier, no stress on sway bar and it was so easy to bolt the suspension back on. Am I supposed to tighten the shocks on to the knockles first and then lower the car to the gound and tighten the mounting bolts after? or I can tighten the mouting bolts while the wheels are in the air? BTW: I install the stuts and shocks without removing ball joints, could that have caused anything? Thx for reading. jeffcoslacker 09-20-2007, 10:19 AM Tightn the tops with the suspension loaded. You want evertything fully seated with weight on it. Springs sitting in their lands correctly? There's usually a notch in the land where the end of the coil seats. Any spring isolators? They'll make knocking noises if not seated correctly... vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
