Reprogram Odometer

Just replaced my ip cluster on a 2002 Buick Century with a used part. It works perfect. The problem is that the mileage is showing 90K. The car only had 50K. I was told that I had to take it to a dealer to get it programed for $100. Is there any other way to do this, other than taking it to the dealer? Also how will they know how many miles to put on it? I still have the old cluster, but the LED is out. Any help would be appreciated!!

THey should be able to access the odometer information either from the PCM or the old cluster even though the LED is out.

So I have to go to the dealer for this, or can a regular mechanic do it??

Most if not all GM dealers let alone regular mechanics will not handle programming the odometer module contained in the IP Cluster. Alot of dealers use this company below for odometer programming. They charge a flat rate. Best thing to do is check with them.

Southern Electronics at 1-800-572-2880.

BTW - You will have to provide the last known good odometer reading.
