Engine not starting, acts like dead batterydanols15 09-17-2007, 12:55 PM Hello, My cherokee has always turned over slow. recently It just would not do anything at all, like a dead battery,(battery is about 4 months old by the way) so i figured I left lights on or something... but then I drove about 6 hours on a trip and stopped somewhere on an exit, and it did the same thing. since I was jumped at that stop it has started perfectly as it did before... any ideas? I am at a loss. at first I figured it was the Alternator, but now im not sure any suggestions would be great. 1996Chreokee 09-17-2007, 01:04 PM Battery cables.. check to make sure they are not green down inside the covering danols15 09-17-2007, 06:07 PM Battery cables.. check to make sure they are not green down inside the covering I checked today and they are green and look pretty coroded. Do the connections under the relay center and the alternator require a special harness? or can I use normal Heavy duty automotive cable? Thanks MOKABEAN 09-18-2007, 04:45 PM Hi i have the same problem i have a 2005 grand Cherokee Laredo. It won't start. But from the sounds of it sounds like maybe a bad starter, try doing it the old fashioned way and stick a screwdriver across the contacts of the starter and relay and see if it turns or just clicks. If it turns then possible bad ignition switch or relay. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
