when im driving and i come to a stop on a hill my car will sort of down shift and begin to roll back when i let off of the brakes while still in drive, it is an automatic but it feels like im driving a stick.Just recently when i start driving shifting from 1st to 2nd is really harsh, there is alot of vibration and stoping every other shift beyond the first is smooth and the drving is normall also going up hills is almost impossible because the transmisson basically slip causing the car to rollback and almost hit the car behind me.....is my best bet to just change the transmisson...what is a decent price range? is there any other alternate?

Have you checked tranny fluid level?

You need to provide more information here. How many mile does the car have on it? How has the transmission been maintained? If the car has a lot of miles on it, is this the original transmission?

As a starting point, typesix's recommendation to check the transmission fluid level is a good suggestion. You may get lucky and it could just be leaking/low on transmission fluid. If so, and bringing it back to the full level remedies the problem, then keep an eye on the fluid level in the future to determine how quickly it is going down. Transmission fluid is not normally consumed by the transmission. If it's going down, it has a leak.

it has about 250K plus on it.......have any of u guy ever heard of blue green transmisson oil.......im am gonna flush out the trans fluid and refill it and see if that changes anything, its the first step but from the way if harshly shifts from 1st to 2nd i doubt that is just the fluid, but it wont hurt to try...im gonna give it a shot, thanks man

I have never heard of it. If you are talking about color, all the transmission fluid I have ever used or seen was red/pink in color. That doesn't mean it doesn't exist. It could be some type of synthetic transmission fluid, but that is only a guess. By the way, you need to use transmission fluid that meets the Dextron 3 specifications and make certain it is refilled to the proper level when the fluid is both cold and hot. These cars can be sensitive to the transmission fluid level.

Mobil 1 synthetic transmission fluid is red, identical with dino fluid.

Totally exchange whatever is in there with real transmission fluid by transferring the fluid out the cooler tubing, at idle, one quart at a time, while feeding in identical amounts of fluid through the companion tubing. or the fill tube.

yeah i meant blue green

i got the fluid flushed and switched out the filter and the slipping and rolling back has stopped but now as i accelerate i almost have to drive it like a stick once again...if i give it too much (like only 2500 rpm) gas on the accel it vibrates like crazy...one person suggested that it was my cv axle, but if it was my axle wouldnt my car be vibrating all the time and i dont hear any clicking when i turn......any ideas?

It's a bit hard to diagnose based upon the information available but it sounds as if it breaking up under load. This is often a sign of bad plugs, wires, cap or rotor, all or some combination thereof. Do you know when it last had a tune-up? Cosider also a partially clogged fuel filter.

ive actually been meaning to change my fuel filter for the last couple of weeks......im gonna do that and see what happens
