Check Engine Light On

I have a 93 Lexus ES 300. I recently placed both oxygen sensors, checked and reset the timing, trying to be cheap and not take it to the shop; I am thinking the EGR valve is bad. Can you help with any other ideas of what might be wrong.

Do you have a scanner??

Do you know why the light is on?

Guess and check can be more expensive than taking it to a shop in the long run.

If you dont have a scanner, take it to a shop to get the codes read, and then fix it yourself from there.

wiz you don't scan that car.
Insert a wire or paperclip in TE1 & E1 in the dignostic port and the CEL will flash the engine codes. To reset the ECU pull the 15amp EFI fuse out for a second and put it back.

SarahGuess - while it is definately past time to replace both main o2 sensors from being old lazy and reading rich, you need to quit randomly waisting money by not troubleshooting. Get the code<s> and go from there.

The EGR is not checked on this engine, while the valve, throttlebody, IAC, and TPS all should be cleaned routinely (and the EGR could be frozen) it will not induce a CEL.

and btw, you replied to a post from 09-13-2007, 09:37 PM
