i have a 95 camry 4 cyl.The problem started when we were shootin skeet 2 weeks ago I played the radio for about 20 minutes, went to start the car and nothing but the starter clicking.got a jump and it was fine for a week.Last saturday hopped in her and was going to go to the store to buy snuff.nothing but starter click.Jumped it again.all this week have had to use the jump box every time i turned it off.Battery right.put a used battery(fully charged) in that a friend had and it does the same thing.tonight i got out of the car and went to lock the doors(power locks)everytime i hit the button the stereo lights came.this is weird fellers, can i get some help here.

p.s. I'm from Georgia,we do redneck things

Replace Battery, clean battery connections, check with multi meter across battery poles when car is running and see if you read around 13 - 14 volts DC. If not have alternator rebuilt. If alternator OK then I would replace starter contacts.

Welcome to the forum. Simple stuff first. Try tapping on the starter as you crank it. If it fires up, either change the starter or the contacts as GSS123 suggested.

"Wierd things" happen when the battery is weak or there are loose or corroded connections in the circuit. The fact you jump it and it starts points to it. Inspite of your buds battery, I would go to AutoZone, Sears, etc and have them charge the battery and perform a load test. Beyond that, check the battery and starter for loose/cooroded connections including the battery to engine ground and engine to chassy ground. If it comes to it, Autozone will test your starter for free.

i'd suspect u have a battery problem.if car runs ok after jumping then charging system should be fine.if car cranks/starts with a jump then starter should also be fine.as GSS suggested replace battery & clean cable connections.

Thanks for posting the fix. I learned long ago, the hard way as you did, that all is not as it appears when it comes to batteries. The only true test for a battery is the load test. If the battery is weak or shorted the load test will fail. Also if the battery is 4 to 5 years old, you're better off replacing it anyway. It's looking for that dark deserted road to fail on you.
