1/24 scale WRX - STi motor...FIRST pics..stump 09-13-2007, 03:49 AM Hey guys, Here's s sneak peek at whats on my bench at presant..... I know it's been quite a while since anything rolled off the bench..:disappoin Lack of time and enthusiasm have had me doing sweet FA...... Time to change......time to ...step up...... I have 6 Subaru's awaiting builds....all Japanese brand kits...... all, no motors....:shakehead Motors are not the be-all and end all.....but I happen to like the idea of "popping" the hood, lets see what you're running.... I know there are plenty of guys out there who like slammers, or curbside.. but not this black duck....a nicely detailed motor can add greatly to a build... What got me started on this was the purchase of one of those very, very expensive Sakatsu (?) half motors.......You know the deal....you only get the top half, which you addapt to the kits lower portion.....mehh.....I didn't like that, so I set about seeing, what would be needed to do it myself.... This started life as a Tamiya Porsche motor.....when complete, it will more closely resemble a Subaru motor....all going to plan anyway...... The top half of the gearbox has been added to the kit box (from the ralley version) and the intake plenum is from the Sakatsu kit. These will be the only two Sakatsu pieces to get used, I think......:frown: I will add a front pulley cover, as per the pics I have accumulated, and I'm thinking of making a "stock" style exhaust manifold and up-pipe, so a stock look can be attained...with the turbo in its proper location. The exhaust will be a seperate item, so that extractors or a custom exhaust can be made, to add an "aftermarket" turbo setup to.. If......IF..everything falls the way I want......I will be getting these cast.... Ok, here's the start.... http://images28.fotki.com/v1029/photos/6/63306/5365790/ej207001-vi.jpg http://images29.fotki.com/v1016/photos/6/63306/5365790/ej207005-vi.jpg Comments, feedback....requests, critique....all welcome Cheers guys stump :aus: AllAlone.Gz 09-13-2007, 03:53 AM Very nice! I got one STi on the bench and I REALLY wished it came with a motor. This is a good idea! When ever I buy a curbside I feel like I'm getting cheated for my money because I can't build the motor. Looks good! Ill keep checking in. stump 09-13-2007, 04:03 AM Very nice! I got one STi on the bench and I REALLY wished it came with a motor. This is a good idea! Cheers mate. :) Yes, I like the way you stated that.....you do feel cheated, hey....because lets face it..curcside does not generally make them much cheaper.....I feel like I'm being ripped off by the manufacturers.... vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
