how long to let it "gas out"

I'm using a Duplicolor silver as a base for some model master acryl true blue pearl. This is the first time I'll have used this combo of paint brands, and was wondering just how long should the duplicolor gas out before coating it with the acrylic paint.

I am quite pressed for time, and I know I could just go get some duplicolor blue, but the True Blue Pearl is exactly the color I'm looking for, and I already own it, so I don't need to buy more paint.

I dunno, usually I do the "Smell Test" to see when the paint is ready to either re-coat or clear coat. Most of the time Im using like Tamiya paints or Model Master so I don't know if they're the same in anyway.

I used the smell test, duplicolor dries out and cures pretty fast too.

well I guess 24 hours is long enough. I just sprayed the color coat on (MM Acryl arctic blue pearl, not true blue pearl) and at first I was really afraid I'd have to strip it, but the first coat that fisheyed, and didn't adhere well to the base coat dried a little, and leveled out really well, then the second coat leveled it out even more, then the third (finally got some color accumulation) started showing the TRUE color of the paint. lastly the fourth coat (heavy, and shot at a distance of about 7-10 inches) evened out the metallic, and all the streaks from the translucent paint. I have let it set in the sun now for about 1 hour (it's a beautiful 78 degrees f., not a cloud in the sky, about 30% humidity) and it looks fantastic.

If I can find my camera, I'll start a build thread, even though it's going to be a slammer, and I am not going to be keeping it.

I guess now I need to find my Tammy clear (it's the only acrylic clear I have :( ) and make it really shiny.

Today I top coated the blue with some tammy X-22 acrylic clear. turned out great, I need to polish it, but it's Just going on top of a wedding cake, so I'll just shine it up, and build a slammer out of it.

here is the one going on top of the cake

Plans are that I build the t-bird curbside because it's the old AMT kit with crappy detail throughout, so it's going to be quick.

The blue looks very in depth indeed, and congrats! =)

P.S. I find that the tamiya X22 clear is very soft, even after waiting a week I would easily put finger prints on the surface when polishing.

I notice this as well. I think I'll "dehydrate" it and see what happens. I need to have it done by saturday!!!
