View Full Version : Revell 49 Merc Revell 49 Merc Andy Jones 09-11-2007, 09:17 AM This first one will be pretty much oob to see how everything goes together. The only change to the body is that I've filled the front turn signals. The wheels are made up of the kit supplied steelies together with Modelhaus (?) single bar hollywood hubcaps & Galaxie 48 Fleetline tyres. Paint is Nissan Magnetic Black Pearl but the pearl effect is difficult to capture. At the moment I haven't started the suspension so the wheel is just resting on the inner wheelwell for photo purposes. http://members.aol.com/jonesandy898/MERC.jpg http://members.aol.com/jonesandy898/MERC1.jpg Thanks for looking Andy white97ex 09-11-2007, 09:32 AM Man that looks sweet! tigeraid 09-11-2007, 12:07 PM Gorgeous Led Sled! brady_381need72c10 09-11-2007, 12:57 PM i may get one(more than one) for myself! Andy Jones 09-12-2007, 07:41 AM Just a small update - started work on the engine which is the kit supplied Caddy mill - only mods are that I've replaced the kit chromed valve covers with ones from the Monogram 59 Cadillac kit as these have the Cadillac scripts & replaced the 3 aircleaners with a resin one from Replica & Minatures. http://members.aol.com/jonesandy898/MERC7.jpg Thanks for looking Andy Andy Jones 09-13-2007, 11:15 AM Just a couple of pics of the engine sprayed Tamiya Blue http://members.aol.com/jonesandy898/MERC6.jpg To pick out the cadillac lettering on the valve covers I covered the script with Bare Matal Foil before spraying the blue & then polished down to the BMF with a 1200 polishing cloth. http://members.aol.com/jonesandy898/MERC4.jpg I've also sprayed the interior Humbrol flat blue/semi gloss black. http://members.aol.com/jonesandy898/MERC5.jpg Thanks for looking Andy BJ3113 09-13-2007, 06:57 PM omg Andy that Rocks!!!! I just picked up one of these myself at wally world super cheap for 13$ US. Im just wondering if your planning on lowering the suspention any? I've looked mine over and have been scatching my head as how to do it. This would look so killer slamed to the ground! Andy Jones 09-18-2007, 06:56 AM Looks great! I've looked mine over and have been scatching my head as how to do it. This would look so killer slamed to the ground! I always intended to lower the kit as imo it sits to high with the "stock" suspension provided in the kit. The mounting points for the metal axles have been moved up into the arches by cutting the front & rear suspension peices and adding styrene. Hopefully pics will explain better: Front http://members.aol.com/jonesandy898/MERC10.jpg Rear http://members.aol.com/jonesandy898/MERC9.jpg Dry run with the revised front & rear suspension pieces in place. http://members.aol.com/jonesandy898/MERC11.jpg Much better :) Thanks for looking Andy Daki 09-18-2007, 09:08 AM Very nice, I was thinking that would be the way to do it:icon16: How much did you add? It looks like to me about 2/16 of an inch from the pictures. Andy Jones 09-18-2007, 10:26 AM Very nice, I was thinking that would be the way to do it:icon16: How much did you add?
