Need help with 89 wiringquick89 09-09-2007, 04:41 PM I recently purchased a 89 cherokee for $300.00, with no radio, im trying to install one but i cant determine which colors of wires go to what. EX: power, antenna, speakers, etc. AlohaBra 09-11-2007, 09:21 AM Sorry...looked for wiring but could not find one for your year. However...a radio is just: a battery fed hot for the memory and ignition fed hot for the radio/amp some kind of ground speaker wiring ...left and right outThe antenna is a big fat shielded lead. No power antennas on most XJs. quick89 09-11-2007, 05:21 PM Thanks, but i know that, i just need to know what clored wires do what? AlohaBra 09-12-2007, 09:41 AM Sorry..no diagrams that old here. If it were mine I would use a voltmeter to identify the hot leads. The ground is usually black. You can use the ohmeter to test for ground. Sometimes the radio bracket is the ground. For speakers, take the door panels off and look. You might need new speakers anyway if the Jeep is that old. There might be a diagram here: http://www.autozone.com/az/cds/en_us/0900823d/80/15/3e/8f/0900823d80153e8f/repairInfoPages.htm quick89 09-18-2007, 09:52 PM Thanks for the info, I'll see what I can do. Stick89 09-22-2007, 06:50 AM Try this....you have to register....but there is no $$$ involved...diagrams IIRC cant be printed from the site... http://www.the12volt.com/Default.asp? vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
