The pic below is a new one to me. It has the Harrods GTR #06R, the Ueno Clinic GTR #01R and another F1 with chrome wheels. Does anyone know anything about this meet? The picture taker quotes it as being taken on the 6th Sept 2007, but it seems to be a mistake; I believe it to be taken just after the Le Mans win in 1995?

Definitely an old photo given the nose on #06R - that short front splitter was only on the GTRs in 1995. Also the race number '9' on the car coincides with the BPR series that year, and not LeMans where it wore '51'. This may have been a display at one of the events following LeMans - Silverstone would be my first guess.

I was thinking one of these - Silverstone / Goodwood / Nurburgring / Donington / Jarama, although IIRC Silverstone was a wet day(?)...Any idea on the chrome-wheeled F1?

This shot could also be from the same event?

It wasn't Goodwood as the LeMans winner was left with all it's battle scars (read: dirty) for that appearance. There was apparently some internal debate over that decision as Ron had wanted the car polished up and perfect for that show, so the story goes...

Anyway I think you are on to something with the second pic and I believe there is another angle on that setting too, but I don't recall if the other car in that set had polished (not chrome) wheels.

I have now discounted Nurburgring, Donington and Jarama, as in those races #06R had an additional sticker / decal (Eurosport I think) on the front wings not shown in this pic. Erik has discounted Goodwood, and additionally I doubt Mclaren would've taken #01R overseas, leaving Silverstone

Erik, if you can find a pic of #06R wearing #9 and having MACH ONE RACING on its rear wing, that'd be the place..........

if it is the same event, notice that the car/s have been moved, look at the writing on the front tyre of the Harrods GTR :)

The other picture I thought I had from this setting seems to only exist in my head - I can't find it anywhere. :dunno:

I also did a thorough check of the folder I have for the Harrod's GTR and don't find any other images that match up. The "Mach One Racing" rear wing seems to be a piece from LeMans. At other points during the 1995 BPR season it appears the car had the Jacadi logo on the wing or nothing at all. I don't have access to my physical library right now so all I can reference are digital images in making that assessment. Maybe someone else has better reference material available.

I did have a slightly larger version of the #01R pic that is also cropped a bit different - not sure if it adds anything to the discussion. The only thing that really stands out to me is the FOSTERS logo in the background, but there were no Australian races that year so I doubt that tells us anything.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v482/Peloton25/McLaren%20F1%20E/th_gtr_34.jpg (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v482/Peloton25/McLaren%20F1%20E/gtr_34.jpg)

One thing I did suspect is that possibly this display was not at the Silverstone round of the BPR, but rather the Silverstone Formula One event in 1995. I seem to recall someone mentioning a display there once. Looking at the dates, my theory seems to have potential.

LeMans was held on June 17th-18th 1995. The Goodwood FOS was held the following weekend, on the 24th and 25th. The Formula One race was held at Silverstone almost exactly a month after LeMans on July 16th 1995. There was a round of the BPR series that year at Anderstorp on July 2nd and then the next race was August 27th at Suzuka. I think that window would have certainly allowed for #06R to participate in a display for McLaren at the F1 race alongside #01R and the mystery F1 with the polished wheels.

The FOSTERS logo must mean Silverstone, as they were long-time backers and sponsors of races there, and the pics we have added here do look like the paddock area behind the pits at Silverstone.

Can you upload the whole video, and let us know at what time the good stuff starts? :) Or at least give us some more info on what the car's colour is or any distinguishing features (apart from the wheels?....)

Mystery solved - I have it on good authority that the F1 with the highly polished wheels was in fact George Harrison's chassis #025; he also had a set of matt black wheels too!! My contact states it looked rubbish

Hi Mr Hurst,
This mystery photo is in fact from Goodwood 2001,when there was a superb sight of three gtr's in the paddock on their own display.
The gulf car was N753 HRV ,Ray Bellm's car, also seen before at Coys Festival.By the way have you seen the pic's of it in the Blue & Orange gulf book coming of the eurotunnel & on the street in France,as he drove it to le-mans 97,great !!!!!!!!
Next to it was the 98 EMKA gtr & the orange gtr which raced in British gt [Mr Goodwin ? ]

I have a load of photo's of these three ,which i will scan and post when the wife shows me how!
Goodwood remains the top show for Mclaren's over the years.
I remember standing there for about an hour listening and looking.

Would love to see the LARK shortail oneday.

a simple question : you say N753 HRV car was going to Le Mans in 1997 ? It's incredible ! I didn't know there were street legal GTR at this time.

Hi again ,
1/ Peloton- Goodwood pics are similar to mine, you beat me posting them !

2/ Peloton & Hurst - Ray Bellms 96 gtr in France. The shot of the car from the rear is from the Gulf book but the other pic shows the front half of the gtr actually emerging from the train/transporter? Wish i'd been there that day.
I also have a signed picture of the car outside a cafe with Ray & two others looking at it.
I promise to post soon, been very busy!

3/Cabrio.-I don,t know what changes where made to the Gtr to make it road legal, apart from the number plate! All i know is that an english newspaper [Telegraph]was covering the trip,as Ray took the 96 car back in 97 on the public roads. I tried to get hold of the feature/pictures but had no luck. I have seen only four photo's of what could have made a great dvd !

Thanks all.
Promise to post pics soon

thanks, you have a good memory. So, Ray Bellm's #16R has his plate changed after that, is it possible he doesn't own the car at this time ? The livery changes too.

XP5 was there, #003 was there, I think the LeMans winner was there and maybe others. I believe it may have been Silverstone - again...?
