Our 900 mile journey thru Colorado Rockies...Ramblin Fever 09-05-2007, 01:00 AM we kind of zig-zagged, having no real 100% destination over the course of Labor Day weekend. Our mission was to head out to the flat-tops and work our way around, with one goal in mind...to get away from this souring HEAT of late!! We started in Rifle, Co visiting Rifle Gap Falls (been in a lot of movies); moving our way north to the Yampa River corridor, through Steamboat Springs visiting Steamboat and Stagecoach Lakes, then zig-zagged back out west to the little railroad towns of Bond and McCoy, where my grandmother grew up and married my grandfather, who then began working on the railroad up/down the Colorado River along that stretch. Here are some pics: http://i198.photobucket.com/albums/aa264/Feverramblin/RifleGapFalls_Steamboat_McCoy_Bo-2.jpg http://i198.photobucket.com/albums/aa264/Feverramblin/RifleGapFalls_Steamboat_McCoy_Bo-3.jpg http://i198.photobucket.com/albums/aa264/Feverramblin/RifleGapFalls_Steamboat_McCoy_Bo-4.jpg http://i198.photobucket.com/albums/aa264/Feverramblin/RifleGapFalls_Steamboat_McCoy_Bo-5.jpg A pic of our 3 demonds - 2 poms and a chihuahua/Dachsund mix; they were supposed to be resting in the camper after a long day of walking/hiking http://i198.photobucket.com/albums/aa264/Feverramblin/RifleGapFalls_Steamboat_McCoy_Bo-7.jpg Our 1st night stay at a Yampa River camp-ground along highway 40 http://i198.photobucket.com/albums/aa264/Feverramblin/RifleGapFalls_Steamboat_McCoy_Bo-8.jpg Ramblin Fever 09-05-2007, 01:16 AM Tried to get the hole house in this pic - it was a beautiful place, this is our dream turf, horses included... http://i198.photobucket.com/albums/aa264/Feverramblin/RifleGapFalls_Steamboat_McCoy_Bo-11.jpg Just some nice Aspen trees http://i198.photobucket.com/albums/aa264/Feverramblin/RifleGapFalls_Steamboat_McCoy_Bo-12.jpg This is the stretch of highway from McCoy to Bond, Colorado - Colorado river flows high through here http://i198.photobucket.com/albums/aa264/Feverramblin/RifleGapFalls_Steamboat_McCoy_Bo-13.jpg http://i198.photobucket.com/albums/aa264/Feverramblin/RifleGapFalls_Steamboat_McCoy_Bo-14.jpg http://i198.photobucket.com/albums/aa264/Feverramblin/RifleGapFalls_Steamboat_McCoy_Bo-15.jpg This is the replacement bridge for the ole Colorado State bridge http://i198.photobucket.com/albums/aa264/Feverramblin/RifleGapFalls_Steamboat_McCoy_Bo-16.jpg http://i198.photobucket.com/albums/aa264/Feverramblin/RifleGapFalls_Steamboat_McCoy_Bo-17.jpg Couldn't resist to take this shot of our next dream rig for camping/hauling; the one we should've bought - black one-ton Dodge dually, instead of our 3/4 ton; at least our engines are of the same cummins beast. Thought it was a sweet looking truck - he was flying too. http://i198.photobucket.com/albums/aa264/Feverramblin/RifleGapFalls_Steamboat_McCoy_Bo-18.jpg Ramblin Fever 09-05-2007, 01:22 AM http://i198.photobucket.com/albums/aa264/Feverramblin/RifleGapFalls_Steamboat_McCoy_Bo-20.jpg http://i198.photobucket.com/albums/aa264/Feverramblin/RifleGapFalls_Steamboat_McCoy_Bo-21.jpg We're home......ya, ah-hun! http://i198.photobucket.com/albums/aa264/Feverramblin/RifleGapFalls_Steamboat_McCoy_Bo-22.jpg FL 3.2L 09-05-2007, 11:17 PM Just got a look at these.
