The Mégane II has been elected by an European jury.

Not bad... sport wagons are pretty cool. I wish we had Renault over here, or anyone with some decent diesels to offer.

What's a Toyota Yaris?

I don't know for Renault, but if you want some french cars, PSA (Peugeot Citroën) will come back in the USA arround 2005. Alfa Romeo (Italian) will also come back in the same time. But you can buy Alfas in the USA now : "Autodelta" is importing some (the equivalent of M for BMW or AMG for Mercedes).

VW sells diesels there, isn't it ? I saw a Jetta TDI in Florida last summer. Do BMW, Mercedes, Audi (etc.) sell diesel in the States ?

The Yaris is a competitor of the 206, Clio, Fiesta, etc. (picture).

Yeah, we have VW diesels, but only the 90 hp ones- not so weak they're unusable, but with nothing to sway people from their faithful gasoline engines. Mercedes used to sell diesels too, but they stopped in 1998.

Hmm... I wonder if the Yaris is related at all to the new Matrix (a Pontiac/Toyota joint design derived mostly from the Corolla.)

The Toyota Matrix (which exists only on the US market) is not the same car as the Yaris (pic). But that's not unpossible that the two cars have the same platform. Don't know ;)

The TDI 90 are good but they are the less powerfull and older. You've 100, 130 and 150hp on the Golf and Passat, and also a V6 TDI on the Passat (same motor as on the Audi A4 and A6). The Cayenne has a V10 TDI 330hp !
That's suprising that VAG doesn't export these motors. Are you sure ?

I like the Matrix, but i think the peugeot 307 is the best car of the year ever! it is my favourite 3 door! :)

Unfortunately, we don't get any of the good diesels here in North America...

BTW Temperanza, what sways people away from the gas engines is 60+ mpg on cheaper fuel... ;)

ahhh..... :)

Stefanel1

The Peugeot 307 is very nice indeed. But it was the car of the year 2002... it cannot be again car of the year :D

jsb88
11-26-2002, 08:05 AM
Can it be again if a new type comes out? like if they shoved a new engine in? :)

Stefanel1
11-26-2002, 10:27 AM
I don't thing that a model which has already been elected as car of the year can be again. Even if there is a new engine.

no the mclaren :D

and jag xj 200 in the list of the cars with ugliest wheels :D

jsb88
11-28-2002, 08:35 AM
They make the car look more solid... problem is with a car like that, what wheels are there to choose? the design means that the wheels would have to look quiite solid, as it looks like a lead car, not a flamboyant one, so you can put very light 4 spoke wheels on it.

Menu dei Motori
11-28-2002, 11:17 AM
well they look like steal wheels :D
any other spoke wheel qould look much better

jsb88
11-30-2002, 07:51 AM
I think the solid style suits the car.

Menu dei Motori
12-01-2002, 06:03 AM
but a sportscar shouldn´t look so solid ( if i got the right meaning of solid)

Cbass
12-03-2002, 05:35 PM
The 928 isn't a real sports car, it's a GT... Big, heavy, luxurious... still goes like hell and handles pretty well though.

So what happened to your brother? I hope he got out okay

crayzayjay
12-03-2002, 06:51 PM
True, it's a GT, but let me assure you it handles extremely well and makes all the right sounds! :D

No actually I am going to leave you on a cliff hanger....

:D Would i ever leave you guys wondering?
I was on leave from the Army, and I came home to have lunch with my parents. My brother had just recieved a bonus and bought a Ferrari. He was driving with me in a 50's Ferrari, with the glass lights, not the flip-ups, and we were going through all the country lanes. I was wearing a seatbelt, but he was not. He slowed down to about 30MPH, to go round a corner, and we semi-drifted round. But on the other side was an old woman, who had recently had a stroke who thought she could still drive. She was going on the wrong side of the road, swerving around as if she did not have a clue. We went round the corner and came head on. she was driving a small car, and was killed instantly. My brother went straight through the windscreen, but his injuries were very slight (he is a big bloke). I almost hit my head on the dash but I was just ok, although ac small piece of metal (I do not know were from) hit me straight on top of the collar bone. He has never had a Ferrari since.

crayzayjay
01-14-2003, 09:17 AM
well, this not only goes for the 307, but also the Civic, Megane etc..., but i dont like the way hatches are going. they look like friggin MPV's, and i dont like that one bit.

jsb88
01-14-2003, 09:49 AM
The designers think that people want practical, small cars that have space (contradiction) so in an attempt to fulfill this, you get small square MPV's.

Menu dei Motori
01-14-2003, 09:56 AM
mpv?

jsb88
01-14-2003, 09:58 AM
umm... like the ford galaxy or Renault Espace... Mobile people mover or somethign like that... although I am aware that it does not work with the acronym MPV

Stefanel1
01-14-2003, 01:55 PM
MPV... mini van like Voyager, Espace, C8, Sharan, Prévia, etc.

Menu dei Motori
01-14-2003, 02:52 PM
hm are there more things
like mpv or suv?

crayzayjay
01-16-2003, 07:42 AM
MPV - Renault Espace
Mini MPV - Renault Megane Scenic

SUV (Sports Utility Vehicle) - BMW X5, Porsche Cayenne (the only two that deserve the "S" in "SUV"

what i was saying is that hatchbacks are beginning to look like mini MPV's

Menu dei Motori
01-16-2003, 08:07 AM
