How do I remove spraypaint damage?Musashi3000GT 08-30-2007, 11:57 AM I have a 06 GTO which has a really bad factory paint job and finish to start off with. I got a scratch on it in a parking lot and took it to a body shop to have it fixed. The body shop didnt cover the car up well enough and now I have overspray on my bumper, hood and door. Its not alot and its not very thick but it ruins the glossy finish from the factory clear coat. is there a safe way to get rid of the overspray without damaging the clear coat underneath. I tryed a concentrated paste wash and tar remover and it got a little off but not all. I have not yet tryed to claybar it or rubbing compound but I hear that can strip the clear coat and I dont want that. Oh and taking it back to the shop is not an option. I argued with the guy over it and we started yelling back and fourth till I threatened him and he called the cops on me. madmatt2024 08-30-2007, 06:16 PM A clay bar won't strip clear coat. Lube the area with soapy water and rub the clay bar on it. I you feel like having someone else do it then find a professional detailer. They will know how to buff it off without ruining your paint. Musashi3000GT 08-31-2007, 12:03 AM I bought a Mother's Claybar kit. I'll try it tomorrow morning. If not I'll give the buffing thing a try. Thanks man. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
