I would advise against smoking the headlights, it will decrease light output and I'm pretty sure it's illegal. As for the tails...read. (Instructions are on a 350z...but it'll be the same procedure)

I always just mix up some clear coat and add some black paint to it and then spray a few coats on the lights till they get as dark as you want them. We blacked my friends out and they still light up good.

I watched someone smoke his headlights before, the funny thing was that we didn't tape around them enough and got overspray all over the fender and the hood. LMAO Guess what kind of car it was.... HONDA CIVIC

I've heard of guys using window tint to do the tails. As for the head lights, I think Buschur used to make shiney black covers that go over the bar lights (on 1ga's those are fine to black out as the headlights pup up :)).

The VHT nightshades or Lamin-X?

A local shop MIGHT have the VHT's, but for the most part you gotta get them online, so probally $10-$15 shipped? The Lamin-X stuff is alot more exspensive since it actual tint. They have their own website though.

Lamin-x = :thumbsdow

My friend has it on his car and it looked bad. The tint just didn't look smooth, it looked kinda chopped up. Nightshade is a better option but still doesn't turn out as good as paint. Here is a pic of how the tails I did turned out.

^^ Well guess the experiences are different. I had the blue ones for my headlight tint on my Eclipse and loved them, might get them again for 240. After seeing these pics those, I'm tempted to try the VHT if I paint my car black.

Any type of tinted clear should work. What I usually do is just mix some black paint with some reducer and spray that on, and then clear over top of it, but then again I have direct access to shit like that, whereas most people dont. VHT shit is expensive, but it works great. I picked up some tinted clear at the hobby store one time called Testors. It's actually made for "tinting windows" on model cars, but I've heard that it works just like VHT (haven't used it yet), and IRRC, it wasn't all that expensive.

EDIT: This is the stuff. You can order it anywhere online, or get it at your local hobby shop.

I'm assuming the tail lights have to be sanded before you paint them ofcourse.. what have you guys used?? Very Fine.. 1500-2000 grit?
