We got some good shots of the system installed, weld points, and mounting points. Here they are... (http://home.mindspring.com/~tom_guza/catback.html) mudphud 11-13-2001, 06:22 PM I like it just for the fact that it points off to the side rather than straight back...might reduce the chances of it getting Mosi'd. :) boodie 03-03-2003, 12:57 PM Originally posted by Stormy Installed one last weekend. Darn...I wanted to see that...Did anyone leech the pics??? :p Schludwiller 03-03-2003, 04:21 PM I believe it's listed on the Nissan site under Xterra accessories. boodie 03-03-2003, 06:03 PM Originally posted by Schludwiller I believe it's listed on the Nissan site under Xterra accessories. They list a "Improve your Xterra's horsepower with the polished aluminum finished Sport Muffler for a throaty high performance sound." Not stainless steel??? Not stainless steel??? Last I checked aluminum doesn't rust. But many people who bought stainless steel mufflers for their trucks got rust in less than a year. boodie 03-04-2003, 04:39 AM Originally posted by Schludwiller Last I checked aluminum doesn't rust. But many people who bought stainless steel mufflers for their trucks got rust in less than a year. The aluminum front hubs on my 2002 SE are oxidized already (the white crusty stuff). Aluminum oxidizes faster, especially in the presence of salt, and penetrates deeper. (The front hubs on my Bronco II got so bad they wouldn't engage and finally just disintegrated...over 5 years). I have a stainless syatem on my Vette. Like everything, it depends on quality...304, 314, whatever SS you get, it's still steel, and will eventually corrode. You need a high percentage of nickel to reduce corrosion. Some cheap SS will rust; some is magnetic; etc. The good stuff lasts a long time. Borla uses good SS; as does Ravin. You get what you pay for... Schludwiller 03-04-2003, 10:59 AM Ok, I see you're in Buffalo as well, so point taken. It was the Gibson exhausts everyone was going on about. After reading the posts again, it seems like it was surface rust. boodie 03-04-2003, 03:27 PM Originally posted by Schludwiller Ok, I see you're in Buffalo as well, so point taken. I'd rather push the last tube out the side. (Behind the rear wheel). ...With a *big* tip!... :D nikjs 03-11-2004, 06:40 PM Where can I buy this Cat-back system from besides the dealership? it is ove $500 to buy and install through Nissan. So if any one knows some part #'s or a web site that can hook me up I would appreciate it!!! OffroadX 03-12-2004, 01:39 AM Uh, part numbers are at the top of this thread... Nissanparts.cc still shows it in stock: http://www.nissanparts.cc/cart/?pn=search OffroadX 07-29-2004, 03:38 PM FYI, digging through my old files, I found the original announcement and I've edited the part numbers for the Xterra items to be correct: http://mywebpages.comcast.net/xterra/catback.jpg Related Links Participate in thousands of discussions at AutomotiveForums.com!
