Hello All. Just joined so I could ask a couple of Q's about a 95' ACR DOHC that me and my son are building as an import killer. My son has been driving this car for about five months now. PO has done nearly every trick to it he could short of internal engine work and intake and head porting polishing. It runs consistently 10.6sec in the 1/8th mile on Khumo tires (that should be somewhere around 15sec in the 1/4). Now for the real story. We had some severe heavy rains recently and the cars AEM CAI sucked in enough water to hydrolock it. PO had custom built a ram air box behind the bumper to house the filter element. My son got caught in this sudden squal and no more running motor. So, now the motor is out and nearly rebuilt with a lot of go fast goodies. My #1 Q involves the ECU. It has a Mopar Performance ECU upgrade. This new engine is 11.0:1 compression, Crane cams #0016 .374 lift/215dg duration @.50 Fully ported and polished intake and ported head 60% polished. 57mm throttle body, long tube header with 2.5" headpipe into single chambered muffler with 2.25" dual tailpipes. UDP Power steer delete. Will the mopar performance ECU be able to run this car without detonation? Is the stock fuel system capable? If not what is the best ECU upgrade? Really want to have all my ducks in a row before we fire it off.

I would say a AF/X race computer is the best add on PCM/ECU (if you can find one).

You should be fine with the Mopar PCM, but the AF/x is tuned for a header which the Mopar isn't. Stock fuel system is plenty for now unless you are going turbo. If you do find that you are running lean (which I highly doubt) then you can put some 24 lb injectors on it. The stock ones are 19 lbs.

There are/were two AF/X PCMs, a street and a strip or race and the street was not header tuned. I have a MOPAR PCM along with a modern Performance UDP and Iceman on my '98 DOHC Expresso She also is equipped with the ACR/RT front and rear sway bars and a B&M short shifter along with camber plates that allow me 1 1/2 degrees of negative camber. This car is a Mom and Pop looking four door but she can do some serious moving.

I have seen a dyno that shows the extra money for the AF/x isn't worth it though.

True, little difference in HP and ET. The AF/X has no speed limiter and a higher rev limiter that the MOPAR, but what influenced me to buy the MOPAR (aside from price) was I did not have to send in my PCM in order to buy the MOPAR.

And good luck getting a new AF/x from Howell in a decent amount of time.

Yea, good luck getting anything in a descent amount of time. Master engine rebuild kit was 8weeks out from Howell. While I greatly apprieciate the responses, I was afraid none were coming due to a week long post and no input. I went ahead and ordered the MSD DIS-2 and the APEXi fuel management. These were based on input from Modern Performance as well as 21lb. injectors. We are shooting for 180-190hp. N/A. I have decided to push it to 11.5:1 compression ratio and was afraid of spark blow out. Also should give some room later for NO2. Would LOVE to see what a non turbo 300hp 2.0 can do in a two door Neon.:jump3:
