'88 s-10 parking brake stuck

Hi all,
I'm new to the forum and not very technical so please bear with me. I have an '88 s-10 blazer that has the emergency brake light on continuously. I checked fluid and all that, and had the brakes fixed not too long ago. When I took the blazer in for emissions test, they said they couldn't test it because the brake was stuck. The pedal itself will go down and release. I don't know where to go from here, any help would be appreciated.

This could be a few things. From the brake system needing service, to the brake light switch that is incorporated into the emergency brake system, to the possibility of the RWAL system having issues. An '88 might have the RWAL system, or it might not. If you have a black box along side of the master cylinder, then you have RWAL system. Either way, if your unsure as to what it is, take it in and get it checked to make sure its not the actual braking system thats going bad.
