supercharger/ small turbo?bamer02 11-18-2002, 12:18 AM i will be getting a d16y8 or d16z6 soon into my 88 civic. i was wondering in putting a turbo or supercharger. ive read some stuff about both of these. i know a supercharger is good but lacks high end and a turbo is a high maintenance thing. so my question is are there any other supercharger other than the jackson racing SC to my application? and i want a small turbo that is good enough to put d16 to about 150hp to the wheels...any suggestions? any info will be greatly appreciated. thanks. 93vtecer 11-21-2002, 04:05 PM If you are only looking for 150hp, you can do that all motor easily, and less expensive than going with forced induction. Although turbos are a little more high maintenance than a supercharger, they are easier to tune. drift 11-23-2002, 09:28 AM Originally posted by 93vtecer Although turbos are a little more high maintenance than a supercharger, they are easier to tune. sounds like you've never owned a turbocharged car before. there's no extra maintenance with a turbo system. just change your oil every 3000 miles and use high quality oil. as for superchargers, JRSC is the only one available at this time in a bolt on format. as for it's maintenance, you have the change the belt every 10,000 miles due to the pulley arrangement causing excessive friction and wearing it out faster. Not letting the turbo cool will kill it about 50,000 - 70,000 miles. My Garrett T3 lasted 152,000 miles on 13PSI of boost, that is until the car was totaled, now I will never know how long it could have lasted. In my opinion turbo is the best way to go, but if you are only looking for 150HP, you can do that without f/i. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
