Engine seizedsamtheman77 08-25-2007, 11:19 PM does anyone have an idea of how much force it takes to turn the crank pullley on a 96 jeep grand, I am trying to determine if the engine is seized, do i need to attach a cheater bar to the rachet to turn it, or should it turn easily? The vehicle has been sitting for about 8 months, i just managed to free up the seized alternator pulley.:runaround: hulkmn069 08-26-2007, 03:30 PM you should be able to do it with a 1/2" ratchet without a cheater bar but since it's been sitting it'll probably be a bit harder. i'd pull the plugs and try to get some oil in the cylinder and let it sit for a min then give her a try. you also may want to try to prime the oil pump with a drill. samtheman77 08-28-2007, 08:45 AM how do you prime the oil pump on a 5.2l jeep V8. The distributor is along the firewall, it looks hard to get at. Do i need to pull the cap off? hulkmn069 08-28-2007, 03:13 PM you'll probably need to get the primer tool itself it's a worm drive that goes on to the drill and you'll need to pull the rotor assy to get it on to drive the pump. but you oiled the top end (pulled the plugs) and can't get it loose then she's in need of rings and even if you do get it to run it'll burn a lot of oil and probably won't get out of it's own way on the road.
