fusible links blowRBrandon 08-23-2007, 10:54 PM :shakehead HELP!! My wife cranked the 98 jgc laredo this morning, shut it off for a minute to run back in the house, and it hasn't had a lick of power since. The battery is new and fully charged. I have 12VDC at the bus on the fuse panel under the hood, but I have no power at the fuse panel inside at the passenger-side kick panel. I have no ignition, no accessory, no interior or exterior light, no horn, no mirrors, and no clue as to what can take out everything past the large fuse panel. Obviously I have an open wire(s). There is absoulutely no drain right now on the battery with doors open etc so I feel it's got to be under the hood. Does ANYONE know specifically where any appropriate fusible links are on a 98 JGC??? For that matter, where does the power come into the interior fuse panel? I don't know what happened to Haynes but the 1993 manual for my Mustang has great diagrams and the 1998 book for a jeep sucks. Sadly I have a Chilton for the jeep too and it's no better on the diagrams. I can only troubleshoot so far without some theory of operations. Need someone who know their power distribution to bail me out here. RBrandon 08-25-2007, 11:04 PM What do they all have in common??? A Ground... I'm a smuck. Long story short, I had a high resistance on my neg cable so that my multimeter would read 12vdc at various points but as soon as you hit the starter the draw was so much that everything would die for a bit. I reterminated the ends of my negative cable and viola, she works again. Never mind the fact that I shelled half of my wire harness looking for potential troubles and blew money on a rental for the weekend since I don't like running my wife and boys around in a mustang gt. It's a good thing they can't revoke your degree or I'd be screwed.:boink: Automotive Network, Inc., Copyright ©2012
