04 legacy cruise out???junk 08-23-2007, 11:22 PM Hey our cruise quit working in our 2004 subaru Outback Legacy with an automatic tranny. How does a person troubleshoot this? The horn doesn't work either. Airbag light is off. The cruise would quite working from time to time, but now is completely dead. Does anyone have a wiring schematic for this or a cruise troubleshooting guide? I have an extra steering column for this car, so I'm going to ohm out both sets of switches and go from there. Thanks Jeremy lamehonda 08-24-2007, 08:30 PM Every car I have had that has multiple problems like this has always been a vacuum leak. Hopefully yours is real cheap to fix. dugan50 08-25-2007, 11:59 AM The most common problem when those two circuits go out is a component in the steeing column (airbag system) called a 'clockspring'. This carries the current through the steering wheel so the circuits continue to work even when you are turning your wheel. For mor info, check out this site: http://www.airbagsolutions.com and even more info abotu the part here: http://www.airbagsolutions.com/docs/clockspring.pdf Good luck junk 08-26-2007, 02:06 PM I fixed it, it ended up being the clockspring. Not too bad a job. Thanks Jeremy vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
