K&N Filter performance on GA GT 3.4L V6Dionnsai 08-23-2007, 11:21 PM Just curious if anyone has any performance statistics on switching from stock to K&N Filter on a 99 GT 3.4L. Increased HP or MPG? Jmoney3318 08-23-2007, 11:46 PM u get both, but just go with a whole CAI set-up Dionnsai 08-23-2007, 11:51 PM Been looking at both, but it's easier to shell out the $60 odd for an air filter than to shell out several hundred for a CAI at the moment =). Thanks xeroinfinity 08-24-2007, 09:10 AM Welcome to AF Dionnsai. A cone filter will fit right on your TB, after you remove the stock air box that is. K&N are not cheap tho.... http://kandn.com/images/l/RX-4990.jpg For the 4990 RX (http://www.knfilters.com/search/product.aspx?Prod=rx-4990) its about $85. On ebay, you can buy a CAI for that much ;) Gir-_- 08-24-2007, 10:55 AM Welcome to AF Dionnsai. A cone filter will fit right on your TB, after you remove the stock air box that is. Think it would be worth putting in the extra for one of the filter wraps to keep the dust down? Also out of curiosity, anyone have a photo of the cone setup installed to give me an idea what the final product might look like? Welcome to AF Dionnsai. Installing a Cold Air Intake - For V6 Models 96+ (http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=685932) If you just want a WAI, you remove the air box then put the 3" cone filter right onto the MAF(which is connected to the air box). Thier are major drawbacks with a CAI though. Like water, always gets onto the filter inside the fender. Or you drive through deep water and it'll suck some up(like I did lastnight  )....... ...Next time I'll go faster! :D Gir-_- 08-25-2007, 10:57 AM Also out of curiosity, anyone have a photo of the cone setup installed to give me an idea what the final product might look like? http://img503.imageshack.us/img503/8665/wai01s164143blk0.jpg Looks something like that, just with out the metal extension... and on yours you could just take off the top part of ur stock air box, it'd take less than 10mins easy. Come visit in the austin area if you're in tx :D Dionnsai 08-25-2007, 12:45 PM Sweet deal, found an RX-4990 at a local speed sport store for 64.99, gonna have it shipped down on monday, and not gonna charge me a dime to get it here =) Auto parts store wanted 80+ and shipping Gir-_- 08-25-2007, 04:46 PM Sweet deal, found an RX-4990 at a local speed sport store for 64.99, gonna have it shipped down on monday, and not gonna charge me a dime to get it here =) Auto parts store wanted 80+ and shipping  Awesome!
