S14 early version project startedjoecwlaw 11-16-2002, 10:48 PM guys, I am working on initial D s14 early version. the kit is good, it comes with extra parts, Nismo Skyline GTR racing seats, exhaust(larger), and flat wing. However, I have to lower the car since its ride height is very HIGH. I chopped the front suspension and A-arm for 3.5mm, and the rear for 1.5mm. It is totally pain in the ass, I spent over 10 hours doing the mod job. And for the rims, I am thinking to put vienna crisis for it, still not decided yet. your input is welcome. http://files.automotiveforums.com/uploads/799772s14_1.jpg http://files.automotiveforums.com/uploads/533771s14_2.jpg http://files.automotiveforums.com/uploads/821134s14_3.jpg http://files.automotiveforums.com/uploads/263374s14_4.jpg http://files.automotiveforums.com/uploads/600440s14_5.jpg RyanGiorgio 11-16-2002, 10:50 PM WHERED YOU GET IT? tonioseven 11-16-2002, 11:01 PM I built a FujimiS-14 like that and the ride was like a 4x4!!!:( SILVIA S-14 (http://www.geocities.com/tonioseven/silvia.html) Those wheels will look cool on your Silvia:cool: integra818 11-16-2002, 11:21 PM Those fujimi kits that come molded in a nice coled plastic... HAs anyone ever sprayed a clearcoat over it? does it look like a paintjob? joecwlaw 11-16-2002, 11:45 PM Originally posted by integra818 Those fujimi kits that come molded in a nice coled plastic... HAs anyone ever sprayed a clearcoat over it? does it look like a paintjob? ya right. Fujimi molded in pretty good orange plastic......I am also thinking just compound polish it , and then spray clear coat over it. primera man 11-17-2002, 01:26 AM Those are kick arse rims.....they fill up the arch's really well supratuner 11-17-2002, 01:50 AM i hope it looks good when it is completed i love that paint color joecwlaw 11-17-2002, 01:53 AM Originally posted by primera man Those are kick arse rims.....they fill up the arch's really well actually, I changed the camber setting. I have to drill holes for suspension in order to make the sus. more towards the inner. And you can see the spring of the sus. was "THINNED" / chopped. It is very tough......but I kind of like the outcome......hehe i will post a pic of the chassis hole later. Suislide 11-17-2002, 01:59 AM please for the love of God don't desecrate such a beautiful drift machine with such VIP wheels! don't get me wrong, i like those wheels. but the S14 is a drift car, it deserves wheels like Advan RG's, Blitz Technospeed Z1's and such. those wheels would be better suited to a Toyota Aristo or something like that. well, i guess it's your choice. i bought the Veilside version of that same kit, but it came with the same body kit as the Initial D one as well and after a while of having the Veilside kit on it, i realized how gay and ugly it was and put the Initial D one on it. as it was my first encounter with spray paint, it looks like shit and i'm soon going to completely strip it and re-do it completely. would it be possible for you to post a pic of the wing that came with it? thanks! can't wait to see finished product! PS what the sweet hell is on the front fender in the 4th pic? i sure hope it's tape... flyonthewall 11-17-2002, 07:21 AM Youre doing well, looking 4ward to the complete model. MaxSE 11-17-2002, 10:47 AM "please for the love of God don't desecrate such a beautiful drift machine with such VIP wheels!...but the S14 is a drift car, it deserves wheels like Advan RG's, Blitz Technospeed Z1's and such. those wheels would be better suited to a Toyota Aristo or something like that..." i agree!:) IMO the s14 is a performance car not a late night cruiser...;)i say TE-37's or NT-03's! joecwlaw 11-17-2002, 11:18 AM I think I have to make a Rim poll :sun: :sun: :sun: joecwlaw 11-17-2002, 12:04 PM fitted with NT-03: http://files.automotiveforums.com/uploads/469875s14_6.jpg http://files.automotiveforums.com/uploads/749759s14_7.jpg looks not really good, i personally feel. joecwlaw 11-17-2002, 12:06 PM here it is the wing: http://files.automotiveforums.com/uploads/638455s14_wing.jpg joecwlaw 11-17-2002, 12:12 PM the kits come with extra parts as I said, Nismo: Bucket Seats, Round exhaust, flat wing, steeling wheel, shift knok and intercooler......:ylsuper :ylsuper :ylsuper http://files.automotiveforums.com/uploads/791929s14_gtr.jpg http://files.automotiveforums.com/uploads/252097s14_gtr2.jpg joecwlaw 11-17-2002, 12:16 PM As I said, the suspension was moved towards the inner, you can see the inner hole and the original hole was filled with putty. and in the second pics, the A Arms were moved upwards, so that the car is lowered. http://files.automotiveforums.com/uploads/454711s14_sus1.jpg http://files.automotiveforums.com/uploads/695533s14_sus2.jpg :toothless Suislide 11-17-2002, 02:13 PM it's looking good so far! when i re-do my S14 (if i even attempt to re-do it, it might be ruined beyond salvage, i might just have to buy another S14 kit), i'm definitley going to attempt to lower it a bit and put some camber in the wheels, because the ride height now is just horrible. you lucked out with the parts that came with it! mine (the veilside version) came with the same body kit as yours, but i got a really crappy exhaust, an ugly wing (i didn't use it), and had to use the stock seats. i think a rim poll is definitley in order! what color are you planning on painting it? TougeMonkey 11-17-2002, 02:41 PM please for the love of God don't desecrate such a beautiful drift machine with such VIP wheels! don't get me wrong, i like those wheels. but the S14 is a drift car, it deserves wheels like Advan RG's, Blitz Technospeed Z1's and such. Wow, I'd figure that a guy with a name like S_13 Iketani coming up and fronting like he knows everything about drifting would at least know about this subject. Well...shows how much you know! :finger: http://mypage.campuspipeline.com/JDMzero/files/b_fct1.jpg By the way...I'm just messin with you, no hard feelings :p Honoturtle 11-17-2002, 04:09 PM Nice modifications to the suspension! I really liked the crises rims, but it's a personal choice and is up to you! *edit* Those are the exact same extra parts that came with my AE86! Suislide 11-17-2002, 05:42 PM Wow, I'd figure that a guy with a name like S_13 Iketani coming up and fronting like he knows everything about drifting would at least know about this subject. Well...shows how much you know! :flipa: :flipa: :flipa: well, ok. i have seen those wheels before, but never on a drift car. i've only ever seen them on VIP cars. i guess they do look pretty nice on the FC...it would still take a bit for me to warm up them though...don't even start to criticize my knowledge of drifting though!! i'll blow your ass out of the water!!:finger: :finger: lol j/k. i think the NT-03's look pretty good on it, don't fill the fenders as nicely, but they look pretty good. that's why i suggested Aoshima Z1's. they're big (18") and don't look too VIP. joecwlaw 11-17-2002, 08:18 PM it is tough to find Aoshima Z1's rims these days......:( do you know which aoshima car kit comes with Aoshima Z1's ? What do you guys suggest about the color? I am thinking of "Orange-gold" or "Gold-leaf".:flash: joecwlaw 11-17-2002, 08:28 PM Originally posted by Honoturtle Nice modifications to the suspension! The Nismo GTR parts come with your AE86 kit??? can u take a snap for me? I have an AE86 kit, but doesnt come with it. TougeMonkey 11-17-2002, 08:49 PM Yeah, my Initial D 86 came with the extra skyline parts...intercooler, muffler, wing, and some other stuff. Suislide 11-17-2002, 08:53 PM do you know which aoshima car kit comes with Aoshima Z1's ? look in my sig. ;) joecwlaw 11-17-2002, 08:57 PM okie dokie. BTW, I think all the initalD series comes with extra partS :D :D :D Suislide 11-17-2002, 10:53 PM mine came with a few, but not the same ones as yours did. i got the racing seats, but i didn't get that exhaust or the wing. i DID get a nice, fat METAL exhaust tip though, which looks sweet, but i didn't get the canister, it just hooks onto the stock exhaust, so it looks kinda weird from the underside...but oh well! joecwlaw 11-17-2002, 11:46 PM what color you guys suggest ??? I am getting headache with color choice...... orange-gold? chrome-yellow? white? silver-gold? joecwlaw 11-18-2002, 02:23 AM Honoturtle 11-18-2002, 01:43 PM joecwlaw, the ae86 kit I got came from the "Racing Star" series, which cost 500 more yen than the one from "inch up" or "tohge" series. The on;y reason I got that one is because I thought it came with the TRD wing from the really small pic! Well FYI, it also came with 17" TE-37's(without decals) and I bought a separate set too!!! Damn wrong rims on the dang box! As for your car, I like the kit on your first pic, as well as the color(blue-silver??) Only thing I didn't like is those side-view mirrors, isn't my taste. And I like the stock wing aswell, but it's all up to you! fullbloodchop01 11-18-2002, 02:21 PM :flash: lookin good so far:flash: as for the wing i would say either the GT wing or the flat wing would look good:frog: tonioseven 11-18-2002, 06:28 PM Those pictures are:eek2: :eek2: :eek2: :eek2: :eek2: I like the first black Silvia! Go for an Orangish-gold color! Suislide 11-18-2002, 06:31 PM ooooh man!!!!    GP Sports makes the nicest S14 kits, and the demo cars that they do up are beautiful. i think either of those would be good for your model, black or bluey silver. any decision on the wheels yet? joecwlaw 11-18-2002, 08:11 PM thanks for the comment, guys. I am thinking to make a mid or darker color to make it looks "not so fat". And for rims, I am waiting for the Yokohama model 7 to try to see how it looks like......but most likely go for 19" deep rims series......those pics look really cool, hope I can 100% replicate it. :D Suislide 11-18-2002, 11:04 PM i currently have gunmetal model 7's on the front of my S14 (i have drifter style front/back rims). i'm putting different rims on it when i re-do it though, probably BRW-03's. tonioseven 11-18-2002, 11:56 PM Originally posted by S13_Iketani i currently have gunmetal model 7's on the front of my S14 (i have drifter style front/back rims). i'm putting different rims on it when i re-do it though, probably BRW-03's. Those are now the rims on my S-14:) I still need to lower it though! hiver77 11-19-2002, 03:56 AM hey, i thought the model7 rims are 17" no? That's too small!!!!!!!!!!! :finger: :finger: joecwlaw 11-19-2002, 09:29 AM yeah, shitty 17"    joecwlaw 11-20-2002, 10:46 AM just finished waiting the epoxy putty to get dry......and tried to shave the putty parts... However, part of the putty was cracked, so you saw there is a white styrene I put on to "straighten" the suspension arm......:(:( lowering job is really tough http://files.automotiveforums.com/uploads/836175s14_sus2.jpg :D :D However, the rear suspension arm and suspension fit really well: http://files.automotiveforums.com/uploads/968917s14_sus3.jpg joecwlaw 11-20-2002, 10:49 AM I just found out that the kit comes with 3 tail wings......holy cow :D :D http://files.automotiveforums.com/uploads/132838s14_wing1.jpg http://files.automotiveforums.com/uploads/916447s14_wing2.jpg Midnight Racer 11-20-2002, 11:26 AM I like the second wing on the second pic. BOOSTD 05-28-2003, 06:17 AM Are there any more progress threads for this car? Re037 05-28-2003, 09:54 PM im going orange blind IwannaDRift 07-09-2003, 03:32 AM is this thread still alive..../'? rx7king 07-25-2003, 01:34 AM its looking very good..you should think about going with some white rims tonioseven 12-14-2003, 03:22 PM *bump* joecwlaw 12-25-2003, 12:28 PM *bump* It has been pended for long time. Donno what I am thinking, I am redoing the front bumper and side skirts. Wanna do K Style front bumper by drilling and chopping the original bumper. Styrene and putty will be put later tomorrow, hope to see better shaping. http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=502/36199s14_dec03.jpg johnsonson 12-27-2003, 02:32 PM hope to c da final look :) hypertek 12-27-2003, 04:13 PM man how bout filling in those body lines?? Looks like Fujimi made it too serious. I like how they give you all those options, I might order one next. Cant wait to see your progess. fujimituner235 12-27-2003, 10:20 PM Go wingless!!!! 86_SR5 12-28-2003, 03:24 AM I like the way it looked to begin with with those crises. I say if you haven't decided on a color, do one similar to what it was molded in, that'd be tight. joecwlaw 12-28-2003, 12:03 PM Just finished working on the Front Light housing. The Fujimi comes without any front light housing, in order to make it looks more "real", I drilled and chopped the front headlight housing. I will put styrene sheet and putty later. Hope to have more progress next week. http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=502/36199s14_dec29.jpg chrismcgee 12-28-2003, 12:50 PM good looking build there dude, must have missed this before. cant wait to see more progress :smokin: spoolin12 12-28-2003, 10:19 PM looks sweeeet!
