Yup you read it right. I beat a viper. HEre it goes:
Yesterday I was driving home from school, and I see this beautiful blue car, you guessed it a viper. I caught up to it and tried to look at it, then we stopped a t a light. i rolled my window down and said "nice ass car," the driver said thanks, and said "yea you too." then i asked him to race and he just laughed. I started to rev my engine and so did he, then i knew it was on. The light turned green I spun the tires off the line so he beat me off the line. But as soon as I hit 2nd gear I past him, and he never caught up. We hit about 100 and I slowed down for a light. I beat him by about a car length, barely. He was like damn son, and he asks me to pull over. We pull into a bank parking lot and we look at my engine and we look at each others and he shook my hand and says "good job, kid" then we went out seperate ways. Greatest day of my life.

Do you ever take your car to the track? I would hope so with that list of mods, and if you do, what kind of times do you run?

DOHcNEON

Nice kill. Btw what psi were you running?

DOHcNEON
11-18-2002, 02:11 AM
thanks. As of today I am running 6 psi. i was running 12 when i beat the ciper. but my clutch has been slipping and i think i am burning it out so we backed down on the psi and are upgrading the clutch within a week or two

Neutrino
11-18-2002, 04:13 AM
You beat a viper on only 12 psi that is really good. I guess the weight difference really counts that much . i was expecting over 20 psi.

DOHcNEON
11-18-2002, 11:25 AM
20 PSi? damn. Its a daily driver. nope. My can get up to 20 psi, but scared as shit to get there. I ran 12 psi at the track and i ran 11.9. Yes weight is a big difference. Power to weight ratio.

I am just wondering, what does your car pull on the dyno?

DOHcNEON
01-08-2003, 08:50 PM
dyno? what dyno? where i live i dont use no stinkin dyno. No but seriously i dont have access to one around here. We have a car show coming up about the middle of jan and they usually have a dyno just to see what the show cars are pulling at the wheels. But right now my car was stolen and my clutch has been slipping really bad and when the thieves stole it they burnt out the clutch then left it along the highway.
So i just ordered the clutchmasters stage 4 clutch from modern performance and hoping it comes in within the week. But i will try to get it on the dyno at the show., If i can get my car running again. Thanks for the compliments.

Man that sucks. Glad to hear you got back your car. I guess its good that they were stupid and burned the clutch cuz sounds like that is the reason they dumped the car instead of making into a million pieces by now.

Scott, my escort is fast, but you have taken it too far. I have fucked with a few things and probally have over 1 grand in performance upgrades, but it will not run an 11.9. Maybe a high 13 if I mess with the psi. Push it up to 20, not 12. If you think I'm fucking with you, I'm not. I do have some serious money in the escort. It is pushing 130Hp. I'll let you guess all the mods after I smoke your ass, Scott.

So maybe you sould watch your back.

swamack
01-13-2003, 09:00 AM
And Scott, it is posible to beat a Viper, They only run 12's with a good driver. A very good driver. It's all about the weight to power ratio. Remember when I beat miller's stang. He had 200HP and I only had 88HP or so. My car weighted only 2000 pounds where his weighted 3000 pounds. He had coffey and a girl in the back with him. Plus his rear tires are bald. So anything is posible.

Scott 02
01-13-2003, 10:33 PM
awww, corection. his stang is about 160hp. I kicked its a$$ bad once np. and if i had the chance i would take my Sportsman Late Model and race this goof and let it bee known i got the badest ride around! hehehe  :flipa: or take the motor out of it and stick it in the marlin? na, put a 502 chevy big block in the marlin and have it tubed out!! ooo now who might have the badd asss ride of them all

First of all, you need to calm down. There is nothing wrong with a four cylinder motor. My automobile does quite well for only having four cylinder's, apparently DOHCNEON's does rather well utilizing less cylinder's than the viper. (Forced induction or no FI, a win is a win) Devil's getting angry with you, b/c your not being very courteous to the rest of the ppl in this thread. Especially DOHCNEON, so lets keep it clean man. Not trying to be a dick, but your opinion does not account for the rest of the world. Please just take it down a notch. :)
BTW- nice kill man, Viper's are monster's thats very impressive.

Perhaps his response was a little harsh, and I'll agree, but your flaming started with your very first post in this thread and they got progressivly worse, and I quote:

That may have been a mild flame, but you got really bad towards the end here. I suggest that if you don't want people getting upset with you than respect others and they will respect you. Shovel shit and people will throw it right back in your face.

I suggest that we all sit back and cool off and then take this back up to an on topic desscussion. Any more flames and I'll just close it. I would feel bad since I think that DOHcNEON had a pretty cool thread here.

That's an intercooler. Under the hood it's got this:

which means at the rear wheels it has this:

Heh. I haven't gotten very good 1/4 mile times because traction is hard to come by. However, the MPH is respectable:

With that much power why not just get rid of the independent suspension in the rear and put something more stiff in the back? Something that could handle slicks.

treynor
01-21-2003, 12:19 AM
> Why not ditch the IRS?

Well, because I enjoy the fact that it handles like, err, a Viper :) Besides, I'd have to put in a full cage, 'chute, and a bunch of other stuff to legally run 9s, and that would ruin it as a daily driver.

"Devil:

This is what separates the posers from the racers... an independent 4-link rear assembly with quick change gears.

http://www.imagestation.com/picture/sraid27/p2ab7ffa219d01af5a9b1f3112764c3a1/fd72c1db.jpg

I should note that this rearend assembly was not solely designed for drag racing (as the title of this thread states). It is really designed for racing applications, and will withstand some serious HP and torque. It can be easily used for drag racing, without going to a solid rear axle.

A solid rear axle with traction bars is totally impractical for street use.

yea at first look i thought it was a turbo but after lookin at it i felt like kickin myself cuz it most likely wouldn't be a turbo cuz it'd be hard to route the exhaust manifold up there.

also, how many psi are you running and what else have you done to the engine?

are you running stock halfshafts and driveshaft or they still holdin up?

that car is well in Hennessy and SVS range
