Sorry guys, another damn ferrari... This was not my original idea, but after seeing someone's AWESOME work I just couldn't resist opening the box!!!:banghead: :banghead: :banghead: So blame him~

Ok it's just a start, and I guess if everything goes well the updating will be very slow as usual since I was always busy working, but anyway there was an asshole who set a deadline of the X'mas Eve  .( Of course together with the 612)

So here're pics.

http://i26.photobucket.com/albums/c141/auw12/599GTB%20Fiorano/DSC00877.jpg

Of course I'm one of you recaro daytona seat fans:icon16: , but I was the poor one who can't afford the gorgeous KA stuff so...

http://i26.photobucket.com/albums/c141/auw12/599GTB%20Fiorano/DSC01021.jpg

And after the long time jigsaw puzzle I got only a backrest~

http://i26.photobucket.com/albums/c141/auw12/599GTB%20Fiorano/DSC01024-2.jpg

Just a test fit so you can see a huge gap under the headrest, I'll fix that later. And it's now not detailed as well, maybe the old sprue trickie? How do you think guys? Sprue Seams or not?

Thanks for looking! C&C welcome as always! :smooch:

Hey, wow, Tang is back! (And look at that, he's building a Ferrari of all things  )

My friend, give it the sprue treatment. I've still not gotten over my amazement from your 612 interior, moreso since I've tried to replicate it. Until I figure out how the fxxk you do it, at least let me watch.

Wow, who need the AK stuff, building like that?!?!
And yes!! Go for the sprue trick, may be this time I finally learn it!

I’m glad to see you building Buddy and I want to see updates on the 612 too!

Keep us posted, I’ll follow this one for sure!

Just to be different, I say DON'T add piping to the seats. I think Daytona seats will look "pimpy" with colored piping round the edges (unless it is in the same color as the seat leather...) :D

I'm trying to pipe seats at the moment, I want to learn.

Thank you guys! OK I'll do the leather seams and try my best to explain everything well.

Ski my interior will be the original Tan/CF color scheme so the color on the seams won't be different.:)

Not a decent update but here it comes~

The backrest insert i made last time(as shown above) was about 1mm shorter than it should be, so I remade it... that's a pain in the ass...:banghead: :banghead: :banghead: but the result is acceptable, I got perfect fitness this time.

http://i26.photobucket.com/albums/c141/auw12/599GTB%20Fiorano/DSC01037.jpg

Also done a little bit on the back, still lacked the 2 CF panels on both sides.

http://i26.photobucket.com/albums/c141/auw12/599GTB%20Fiorano/DSC01044.jpg

Here's a preview of the seat, it was very hard to take a clear picture so I used unusual light to improve it a little bit, just a little bit... I guess you'll have a better view when the gray primer is applied.

http://i26.photobucket.com/albums/c141/auw12/599GTB%20Fiorano/DSC01049.jpg

I removed the molded seat base for the new seat which will have full base/control panel frame.

http://i26.photobucket.com/albums/c141/auw12/599GTB%20Fiorano/DSC01059.jpg
http://i26.photobucket.com/albums/c141/auw12/599GTB%20Fiorano/DSC01060.jpg

Then I made a base bracket with plastic sheets, and adjusted the height and angle of the seat. I'll make tha control panel and so on next.
http://i26.photobucket.com/albums/c141/auw12/599GTB%20Fiorano/DSC01062.jpg

That's all for this time. I'm planning to pipe the seat after casting them since I think I'll mess up everything if I cast the seamed seat, or worse damage the prototype. This will be the first time I attempt to cast something, so I must be careful. If you guys have some good idea of casting the seat, especially well making the mold please post, it'll be highly appreciated. Thanks a lot for looking guys!

Hi Rodney, glad to see you here too!:ylsuper: Thanks buddy~~~
Hey G the cost will be a pasta/pizza shop in China~~~~:ylsuper: :ylsuper:

Good to see you at another project, I really enjoy your wip's and the seats you modified are exactly what I'm talking about. Very clean precise work as usual.

Tang: just cast the daytona insert, with a simple 1 side mold ;) and we all would be happy, you don't spend capitals to learn (qqqqqqqquickly) to cast, but more, the result would be perfect :D

The seat work is beautiful. The tiny holes in the backrest add so much to the detail.

Excellent Tang! :worshippy
Your work makes my attempt look like a POS (which it was :D)

I normally like to agree with Gio (:evillol:) but this time I don't - cast the whole seat. You won't use all that much extra materials but you will save your self a sh*t load of work later on if you have a whole seat rather than just a panel that will need fitting etc...

Can I have a set please? :D:D:D

kanedge

Nice work on the seats. I have one of these kits on its way to me, so I'll be watching.

auw12
08-27-2007, 12:04 PM
Thank you guys for your kind comments.

Hi G I'm sorry the inserts were already glued on~   I guess I'll cast the whole seat to prevent leaving too many works to you. Even if I do this you'll have to remove the molded bracket. But I know you enjoy doing these you crazy horse~~~

But the crappy thing is that I found the seat is not eudipleural so I'll still have to make at least a couple of the base and control panels, that's really crappy... But anyway I'll do this.

Hi Ski you kidding? That's for sure!!!

WOOOOOW!!!
Hats off!!

As I told you before, this job is amazing!!!! They look just perfect!

There is just one thing I don’t understand, (well there are thousands) what does “eudipleural” mean?
I’m glad that you couldn’t resist starting this 599!

Thank you and keep us posted!

I think there´s something like a Daytona-seat-fever here at AF! :evillol:

Very nice start again! I think your seats are looking much better than the KA ones.

Just some random updates. When waiting for the putty on the seat to cure, I did some works on the interior and also everything else.

First as mentioned in the review the tyres are too wide, so I removed the inner what ever I dont know its name lol~~~ on the wheels.
http://i26.photobucket.com/albums/c141/auw12/599GTB%20Fiorano/DSC01340.jpg

So can you see the difference?
http://i26.photobucket.com/albums/c141/auw12/599GTB%20Fiorano/DSC01341.jpg

Then I made the PE front grille from Crazy Modeler which is truly better than my plastic sheets stuff:lol: , but I prefer the revell pony to the PE one.
http://i26.photobucket.com/albums/c141/auw12/599GTB%20Fiorano/DSC01338.jpg

There're a few works should be done for mounting the PE parts, I think the dashboard will look good after equiped by the PEs.
http://i26.photobucket.com/albums/c141/auw12/599GTB%20Fiorano/DSC01342.jpg

Crazy Modeler provides 4 PE front air vents which are simply useless. They are way too big! So I have to make them myself. Fortunately CM made the tiny pony in the center handle, I just cut it off and glued on my new air vent. That's rather tiny!
http://i26.photobucket.com/albums/c141/auw12/599GTB%20Fiorano/DSC01350.jpg
http://i26.photobucket.com/albums/c141/auw12/599GTB%20Fiorano/DSC01345.jpg

That's all for this time. Thanks for watching!

I really have to thanks A LOT to the dude who gave this thread 5 stars though it's not deserved at all! That's really some high praise and honor! I'll do my best, thank you all!

Hi Ramon thanks a lot, I meant symmetrical by the word "eudipleural", sorry for the expression of a kind.

Hi mrawl, the vent is simple, I just glued 5 pieces of plastic sheets to a plastic rod, nothing special, but I sanded the sheets to about 0.2mm thickness before I cut and glue them. Thank you!

You possibly feel boring from seeing my updates ~ Still working on the interior... ok dashboard . I've done the vents and worked a little on the PE parts.

Here's a pic of the dashboard, you can see the PE stereo CP I'm going to use, but... bigger again...
http://i26.photobucket.com/albums/c141/auw12/599GTB%20Fiorano/DSC01351.jpg

Here's a pic of the real thing to compare, you can see the stereo CP is obviously inside the case, and it's oblique from the face. but if you directly use the CM PE it was too big to be installed inside the case even if you dig the hole.
http://i26.photobucket.com/albums/c141/auw12/599GTB%20Fiorano/59920GTB20120db.jpg

So I have to modify the PE part to install it correctly, at this step I also removed the cover of the CP for it's not that important and visible if you choose to represent the "open" state of the stereo CP, but it did affected the installing.
http://i26.photobucket.com/albums/c141/auw12/599GTB%20Fiorano/DSC01354.jpg

I also used the speaker on the top though I didn't want to do this very much. You can see it was much bigger than it should be. But it looks so beautiful so I couldn't resist using it despite it's incorrect...
http://i26.photobucket.com/albums/c141/auw12/599GTB%20Fiorano/DSC01355.jpg
http://i26.photobucket.com/albums/c141/auw12/599GTB%20Fiorano/DSC01357.jpg

I really don't know why these PE parts look so damn fine but when you use it... I think they really need some improving on this. Guys you surely have much more experiences on PE products than me, which manufacture provides best stuff there in your opinion? I mean the design, precision, fitness and so on. What about the KA stuff?

Ok so much for this time, thanks for watching!

Hi Les, thank you very much! I'll hand paint the numbers.

Thanks Dan! I'll mask them and paint for I'm not skilled enough to paint separate tiny parts, they're hard to hold for me.:frown:

That looks lovely, KA PE isn't much better (at least some parts) they are to big to (front grill is way to big), but speakers look better if you ask me, they have finer mesh, much closer to the original. I didn't try to use the stereo so I can't comment on that one.

Guys- stupid (and lazy :evillol:) question time?

Which 599 is best - Revell or Fujimi? Body wise I mean. I am not really interested in the engine.

Which p/e set is better for the 599? or do I need 'em all?

Fujimi is better, no question, now when I have them both nearly done it is more then obvious. PE...I would say CM you get all the stuff from KA and a bit more, KA masks thou and seats.....or let Tang mold you some of his :D
