I live in Texas; considering used Camry from California

I live in Texas. I'm considering purchasing a used 1998 Camry that originally came from California. It has the special California emissions devices installed.

Because of the extra emissions devices, will this Camry be more trouble prone and expensive to repair as compared to a Camry without these extra devices? Will mechanics in Texas know how to work on it?

Your input is appreciated.

Welcome to the AF!

The California cars are very similar to those marketed elsewhere in the US. The dealer will have parts for that car and will be able to identify them by your VIN. Also, the OBDII codes will be specific for that car and will allow a mechanic to troubleshoot the emissions and other systems the same as other cars. As a general rule, 99% of the car parts are the same.
