I just picked up a 97 CameryLE and I've been sorting out a few issues with it. The next one I'm going too is the horn, it does not work. Is there a fuse for the horn, or any other tips where to start? Thanks, Dennis

Welcome to the forum. Can't be too specific without a schematic but, can't be much more than the horn switch, clockspring, a relay, and one or two horns in the system. As for the fuse, check the labels on the fuse panel covers and your manual.

Check for 12vdc at the horns with the switch depressed. Not there? Find the relay and feel for a click. No click? Check for 12vdc at the relay coil side. Not there? You probably have a bad horn switch in the steering wheel or the clockspring coil (just behind the pad you push) is open.

Open your factory manual at the "Factory Service Manuals" thread at the top of the forum. Should tell you everything you need to know, including schematics.

I found out this weekend the horn works (fuse was blown) but it continues to blow the fuse when activated. A ten amp fuse was blown and replaced with another 10 amp. It blew after honking the horn a couple times. I replaced that fuse with a 15 amp fuse and it allowed for a couple more blows on the horn before it blew. Any ideas what to check first? Thanks for your help. Dennis

If you replce your fuses with the ones with higher amperage ratings you may overload your wiring and it will catch on fire resulting in a very expencive damage to your car. Blowing fuse tells you: "Something is wrong (horn)" The manual suppose to have a testing procedure for the horn. Try to get another horn from the junk yard.

Good luck,

Sam

Yes I understand that. Does anyone know where the horn is located and should I just check the wiring there first? Thanks, Dennis
