Black plastic automotive touch up paintNorman Rackison 11-15-2002, 08:24 AM Hello, My garage door spring broke and it glanced off my rear plastic bumper of my car scratching it. Does anyone know of any supplier that makes black (glossy) touch up paint to touch up scratches on plastic bumpers? If so, please respond to my email: Norman.Rackison@nstarch.com (note the period between Norman and Rackison) Thanks, Norm Rackison rrdstarr 11-16-2002, 02:23 PM Do you mean the two plastic end caps or the bumper itself? If its the plastic, just use Mothers Back to Black and follow the directions on the label. There is no cover-up paint that I know of. OffroadX 11-16-2002, 03:56 PM The bumpers are grey, not black. Brent Norman Rackison 11-18-2002, 07:21 AM rddstarr, Thanks for your reply. I'm talking about the bumper itself. You say Mothers back to black will fix it? I will give it a shot. thanks again buddy Norm rrdstarr 11-18-2002, 02:17 PM If it is not the end caps do you mean the plastic cover that is on the bumper? If so Mother's works on that too. IF it is the metal part of the bumper......ask Nissan what paint it is! -Rick OffroadX 11-19-2002, 10:51 AM In 3 years nobody has yet managed to get a proper paint color/code for the grey used on the metal portions of the bumpers, it's rediculous. Brent Norman Rackison 11-20-2002, 07:22 AM Off Road, You're right! No one has the correct paints for bumpers, but I'll bet the body shops have them! I posted my message because I refuse to pay an auto body shop $200 to touch up the bumper with an airless sprayer! They'd make a couple quick passes (30 seconds worth of work) and charge $200! I'd buy the paint from them for whatever they wanted but I'm sure they wouldn't allow this. I'll do it myself and try the Mothers back to black and see what happens. I wonder why we have no faith in body shops? Norm vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
