My AC has been acting up for the last 2 years, after reading in the frontier forum about a thermister being the culprit of someones problems, I started checking my altima and sure enough it is there. I have great AC as long as the compressor runs ~30 psi at idle on the low side ~195 psi on the high side. Once the compressor disengages it may take 1 minute or 5 minutes for it to start again. Once I pulled the temp. prob of the thermister out of the evaporator box it has not cut out since. I believe the thermister to be my problem, I bought one from the scrap yard and installed, the AC ran for 5 minutes and never came back on. I put my old one back in until I went to the Nissan parts dept. to get a new one, the problem is it doesn't look anything like my old one, I didn't see anyway to install the 1.5" prob verses my ~5" back into the condenser box. The bag was already opened at the store I'm wondering if a adaptor is suppose to be include as the p/n had been changed from the # on mine. Thanks for any info. :screwy:

The new one will will plug into the connector, but the part that goes into the box doesn't even begin to fit. My old one has a black box on the end of it, the new one is just 3 wires in a connector. I'll get the P/N off of mine tonight. Thanks

Can we flip 180º while on the subject of AC and talk Heat? My 96 Altima had a stuck heat control valve on the firewall in the engine compartment. I have since lubricated it and it's moves like new, but it caused a strip gear or some other damage under the dash in the duct work. What kind of a job is it to fix this? I can do it myself but I would like to know what I'm up against and has anyone attempted this type of job before? Many Thanks!
