I bought this Mustang from the builder-he's Ken Mouton of South Carolina. He showed up at our model car show this past weekend w/a list of his models he was selling. I ended up w/six cars, a seriously emptied wallet, and a new album of pics to show off his work. He's a seriously gifted builder, he builds models of cars I really dig. And sells them. Cheap. I couldn't resist. Here's the first one.

It's a combination of an AMT '67 Mustang and a Dodge Viper. It has the Viper engine, Viper Chassis, even a Ferrari 512TR transaxle. Fujimi rims, and tons of custom bodywork.

Oh my!:eek: I have the parts to make one of these! But I wouldn't be able to sacrifice the Viper engine to a Ford, also wouldn't have the skill.

Yes, that's what he used. And they're all aligned perfectly, the holes on the hood are symmetrical. Amazing stuff. It's fully wired and plumbed, even having a hose running from the fuel filler to the angled fuel tank behind the seats/in front of the transaxle. Brake lines too.

Thet's an incredible model.

Not a huge muscle car fan but that must be one of the most beautiful things I've ever seen (on wheels anyway!!)

OMG...

::gets back in chair::

Except for the color scheme, which does rock, that is a masterpiece. Kind of gives me an urge to make an Eleanor for myself...

Thats one gorgeous model and a stunning Mustang. I would never have contemplated buying other peoples built models, further more i don't think i could bring myself to sell them!

I'm not convinced about the choice of colours, but the rest of the model is awesome. This guy is obviously very talented ... lucky fella :D

Why doesn't he join the forum? We could all learn a thing or to from his amazing work. Could you post some pics of the other cars that you bought from him?

I'll email him to let him know about it. He has left comments in my album so I know he does have internet access. I'm not sure it he has a method of photographing his models. He would be most welcome here, I'm sure. I'll post a couple of the others in new threads soon. In the meantime:

He's also got some models in my other album, here's the comments page where he describes them (look for his name Ken Mouton):

Ken's nothing if not an extremely humble and gifted modeler. He prices his models very low. Too low in fact, because if the wrong person ends up w/them they might feel the need to resell them for a big profit, or enter them in a contest somewhere w/o giving him credit. I don't think that will ever happen, but it's a possibility. That's never happening with the cars I get from him. I buy 'em because I like them, and they fit into my collection, and I make sure that his cars have his name on them in my albums.

I opened a can of worms mentioning price, I'd rather not say publicly. I'd rather people see the models for what they are than wonder about the price. They were exceedingly reasonable price-wise. Even so, I'm much happier that I'm able to have some of his models in my collection. I do buy built-ups from others from time to time, though I rarely if ever sell my own models.
