crunching noise in brakes

I got all new tires about 2 weeks ago. The car has been riding wonderful, but I noticed today that if I have to apply the brakes quickly, it doesn't automatically stop but rather makes a crunching gravelly noise and then stops quickly. It only happened a few times but it wasn't the best feeling.

I have an appt to have the same machanic look at it this weekend, but is this something that he could have done wrong? what is it? when he applied the tires, wouldn't he have looked at the brakes?

Confused and a bit bitter (the bill hasn't even come in on the tires).

Thank you!

ehh. maybe some rust for dirt got in there from the tire change? can you see hoe much pad is left? maybe its just coinsidence that you need brakes after you had your tires replaced?

by law service mechanic are not allowed to touch anything other than the service u agree to have so next time u should ask him to look at them or maybe he was in a hurry

yeah most places i know of will at least look at the brakes while the tire is off and if you need them serviced they will talk to you first. I agree, maybe it was a noobie service tech and either forgot to look or was in too much of a hurry to check.
