Transmission oil changeEddie57 08-10-2007, 10:32 AM Can someone tell me if it's recommended to do complete transmission oil change oil a 2004 Nissan Altima. I called the dealer and they don't have the machine to do the complete flush. The service guy said it's not recommended, because it could mess the transmission up. He said to just change the filter and fill the oil to level. I find that hard to believe. Anyone out there have experience on this? One other question: what type of transmission oil does a 2004 Altima use? TIA Eddie PS: Engine is 3.5L Eddie57 08-10-2007, 04:42 PM Like the Geico caveman says......What? Toolman5523 08-10-2007, 08:55 PM I believe the owners man. says all that needs to be done is just drain the pan, I don't know if they have a serviceable filter. the trans dipstick says what type of fluid you would need to use. Nissan itself does not have a "trans flush" machine. the one you have heard of is from the aftermarket's, however many dealers do purchase them. Do you recommended that I just drain the pan? or do a complete flush of the system? The car has 52K miles, T oil has never been changed. E Toolman5523 08-11-2007, 02:27 PM flushes are nice, however all that is required from Nissan is a drain and refill. all that has do be done is what is required of by the manufacturer nothing more, sometimes going the extra mile can void your warranty Eddie57 08-11-2007, 04:18 PM Had a complete flush done on the transmission oil and radiator today. Although they didn't make any money, because they accidently messed up one of my new tires and they had to buy me a new one. $250 tire. Thanks E vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
