I bought an 08 altima coupe, and bought rims and tires for it... i've had the rims for not even a week and today when i went to wash my car the chrome was busted on it! it was peeling just a little bit on one rim, and on the other there was a spot about 2 1/2 inches long where it had busted!

why is it doing this? and how can i prevent it from happening? what should i do? I called the place i bought them from, and they're going to replace them ... but isn't it likely that it will happen again?

It's not as likely as you think, when wheel manufacturers make chrome wheels they go through about 6 different steps after the wheel is initially made to when it gets the chrome on it. Sometimes through the chemical baths and rinses and copper and nickel plating processes there is a little bit of debris or dirt or oil or some kind of contaminate that either gets on the wheel or doesn't get taken off which will cause the coatings not to adhere properly. I would check the other 2 wheels thoroughly and see if there's any spots that look like the beginning of it happening on them.
