99 Grand Cherokee Limited (front Dash Panel Removal)flyerfan99 08-06-2007, 11:27 PM I NEED TO REPLACE THE FRONT DASH SPEAKERS ? CAN SOMEONE TELL ME HOW TO GET THE DASH COVER OVER THE SPEAKERS OFF? OR IF THERE IS SOME TOOL TO REMOVE IT, THAT I NEED TO GET IT OFF WITH?. IF THERE IS CAN SOMEONE PLEASE TELL ME WERE TO GET IT OR WHAT TO DO ? :banghead: THANKS Bob D. 08-07-2007, 02:59 AM Find a trim panel removal tool or long putty knife. You will also need a very short screwdriver or a ratchet with a hex nut socket. (I believe the speaker screws are combo hex/torx screws but don't recall the size.) 1. There are four retainer clips under the dash panel holding it in place. Start at one end with the tool under the lip of the panel and gently pop off the retainer clips upwards. At some point you will be able to fit your fingers under the lip of the panel. Work your way to the opposite side, popping off all the retainer clips. 2. Remove the panel up and out of the way. 3. Remove the speaker screws. 4. Disconnect the speaker harness. Your old ones probably tore at the foam surround. If you are replacing them with OEM speakers, (which I recommend) I would suggest applying flexible latex speaker glue around/between the speaker frame and surround - a small bead in the circular groove. It will keep them from popping on loud low notes and extend their lifespan. flyerfan99 08-07-2007, 08:52 AM Thanks for the advice i am going to replace them later on today .
