I just bought this 95 civic at a junk yard for 300 bucks. I was wondering what motor would be best to put into it? I would like to use either a K20 or an H22 everyone around town says that the H22 is to heavy and the K20 makes the same power. Does anyone out there really know if the H22 is really to heavy, cause everyone I talk too has never driven a hybrid civic with a bigger motor. What is the real wieght difference between the two?

The H22A doesn't weigh that much more, it's a myth. But it depends on how much $ you are willing to put into the car, as well as how much knowledge you have to do the swap (more how much more $ you have to pay someone to do it for you).

Well the cash isn't the issue, and I know everyone says they have the know how, in my experience most ppl just hear some phrases and them repeat them to try and sound smart, but lets say I can manage. My WS6 has about 380hp and then a 125 shot of gas, the Zex nitrous system. The problem is thats not a good daily driver considering i'm about to put a massive cam in it plus it was never ment to be my daily driver, and the 626 just dosen't have enough get up to satisfy me.

Then the K-series is definitely the way to go. There are plenty of walkthroughs available on different forums on how to do the swap (unfortunately I have yet to see one here on AF), as well as parts lists for what you'll need.

why is it that the K-series is the way to go?

There are far more aftermarket parts available for the K-series than the H-series. And since it's pretty much Honda's current line of engines, manufacturers will continue coming out with new parts for them. Where I personally haven't heard of any companies coming out with any new parts for the H-series (it's considered older technology now).

With the K-series, just adding bolt-ons (intake, exhaust, header) you can easily see 200whp. Check out this dyno chart: http://forums.evans-tuning.com/viewtopic.php?t=4624 Not bad for a USDM K-series that is rated at 200hp (not at the wheels) from the factory. And here, someone tested a few H22a's with different parts: http://www.ntpog.org/dyno/index.shtml With just basic bolt-ons (like with the K-series), the one that made the most power didn't even crack 180whp. Of course there are always many variables with dyno tuning, unforunately I couldn't find any non-turbo'd H22a dyno sheets on evans-tuning.com's site to give a better comparison.

And then there's the 6-speed transmission as well :naughty:

yeah the six speed seemed attractive to me, since my t/a has one, the double overdrive is a great thing on the interstate. thanks for the help, i think i've finally made my mind up.

I think I may go with a b16 turbo

Seems like the turbo will be faster

I'll post a new thread for it
