but i figure i'd share it.... stock Si top speed is listed at 127... i went to SEMA last week.... i hit 132 speedometer mph...... w/ power to spare...... car felt good -- i kinda got spooked it was way too dark... but this is NOT something we should do...... but the 95N was just way too empty.....

Most speedometers aren't very accurate after about 80 mph. To find your real speed you have to do a bit of math. What was the rpm you were at? What is the size of your tire combo? If you tell me that, I could calculate more accurately your actual speed.

I agree. The HP to speed (weight - arodynamics etc) is a logrithmic curve. I am a bit skeptical of 130+ especially with "power to spare"

Go to WalMart, pickup one of those 50$ GPS's with highest speed reached recall on it, then put it in your car. That should be within a mph of radar. There are allot of things that could be off if you did it mathematically. IE: the distance your car travels per rotation of the wheel, and the ratio of your engine rpm to your wheel rpm. It is just allot easier for me. My speedo is off a good 5 mph anyway, that's how I found out.

Doing it mathmatically is extremely accurate. The only variables that could mess up the calculation are wheel spin and extreme tire growth, both of which won't really be applicable in this situation. I didn't ask for his gear ratios because those are widely available. You need to use the gear ratios, roll out of the wheel, and the engine rpm.

ummm when i say power to spare i don't mean that i was at 5k rpm.... but anyhoo... tires and wheels stock for the si....... everything was stock...... minus the intake....... carrying probably 400 lbs. above curb weight..... yea i know speedometer is not accurate at these speeds that's why i noted it in my first post! but for the rpm reading... i wasn't really paying too much attention.. one eye on the road one eye on the speedometer one eye on the rear views.......... anyhoo... if it's like 5 mph error ratio then i guess i'm right on... but ya a thrill anyway.....

Must be...hehe

Oh, and if you can catch the speedo, you should be able to catch the tach too....but oh well.
