Relative F1 Cockpit SizeNewyorkKopter 08-04-2007, 12:28 AM Hey, How about how big is an F1 car's cockpit, I mean like its dimensions...length, width, and height? Heres a pic to sort of "illustrate" what I'm asking... http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v178/NewyorkKopter/F641.jpg So, can someone please fill in the blanks? Thanks Dyno247365 08-04-2007, 06:51 PM Is that GP2? That doesn't look like an F1 car, then again I forget what GP2 looks like. I have no idea. drunken monkey 08-05-2007, 04:52 PM depends on the year and hence, the rules. have you tried google? i think that's the 1989 car; 641/2. NewyorkKopter 08-05-2007, 07:20 PM yea man...All I got was the total length, width, and height. I couldn't find anything on cockpit dimesions. If it depends on the year, and model then lets go with the picture I posted, the Ferrari 641. Does anyone know the length, width and height of its cockpit? Even an estimate would really really help. Thanks Dyno247365 08-05-2007, 08:21 PM Shows how much I know...I gotta check out the 80's F1 races. freakray 08-05-2007, 08:37 PM E-mail Mclaren, according to Ferrari they have a copy of all their technical info. NewyorkKopter 08-06-2007, 11:57 AM oh really? Hmm so does anyone have thier email because it seems their site is down so I can't reach thier contact page. freakray 08-06-2007, 06:50 PM I can't believe you took that seriously. Are you even an F1 fan? Dyno247365 08-07-2007, 12:04 AM E-mail Mclaren, according to Ferrari they have a copy of all their technical info. HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!! SPEED Commentary- "Ron Dennis seems to be worrying quite a bit there" -- "Probably because of all the lawyer's papers" NYKopter, Mclaren is under investigation because of an alleged spy on the Ferrari team, that's what freakray and I are referring to. NewyorkKopter 08-07-2007, 07:50 AM ohhhhh hahhh Imagine if I emailed them! lol thanks for the info. So can anyone give me like a rough estimate of the height length and width of the cockpit? drunken monkey 08-07-2007, 08:14 AM why do you want to know? anyway, put it this way, if all you want is an estimate, then all you need to think about is that Alain Prost could get in that hole. The length will be about the length of his arms with a 30 degree bend at the elbow. The height will be his body at about 45 degrees. The internal depth/length will be his legs with about a 30 degree bend at the knee (along with the rest of him). Common sense helps here if you're not after exact measurements. NewyorkKopter 08-10-2007, 12:16 PM hahh tru. Actually I'm a F1 fan, but I haven't been following it for a long while. I was looking for something like the length is 2 ft, the height is 1.5ft, but thanks anyways...that did help. The reason why I ask is because latley I 've been really bored so I was planning on building a 1/4 scale F1 model that may or maynot run. drunken monkey 08-10-2007, 08:09 PM in that case, then look up a set of the rules for F1 when the car ran. Most of the details of the car are built up around that i.e width of car, height, distance from x to y, size of openings/intakes, height of roll hoop etc etc. You can work out the rest using the known restrticed numbers. NewyorkKopter 08-14-2007, 04:14 PM oh true; I just ran into a 1/4 F1 model in the modeling section on AF, so now I might go 1/3 or 1/2 to keep it unique. But anyway back the the rules... are they availible on the F1 site? oh dude the car in the pic is a 1990 641/2 vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
